#Chiefs CB Jaylen Watson, one of their emerging young players on defense, suffered a fractured ankle in Sunday’s win over the #49ers, sources say.
He’ll have more imaging done today to determine if a return this season is possible. But tough reality for an up-and-coming corner. pic.twitter.com/86J6M58zqm

Wtf?
That is mind boggling. Sometimes, it really does seem like this team is just using the regular season as a 17 week preseason. Just tinkering around with shit for the sake of doing so. [Reply]

It was the opposite. Most of us fans were puzzled why it wasn't obviously going to be Watsons spot but the coaches didnt. Maybe just trying to light a fire under Watson and knew the whole time.

Reid added that the team might consider a committee at the CB2 spot in the regular season.
Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo commented on the CB2 position and said, “I think it's wide open.”
Yes, because when there's an open competition, coaches always come out and declare a favorite to the media.
Watson ultimately won the job, so it's not at all a stretch to think he was the favorite by mid TC and coach speak quotes from PCs mean absolutely nothing. [Reply]
