The Kansas City Chiefs and Hallmark are teaming up with the NFL and Skydance Sports for a new, original movie, “Holiday Touchdown: A Chiefs Love Story” starring Tyler Hynes, Hunter King and Ed Begley Jr.

Hah, I noticed that too!
Also... wasn't this supposed to be taking place during the 2023 season, where the Chiefs played the Raiders on Christmas day (not the Eagles) and unfortunately got their asses kicked. [Reply]

I would guess they had to do the Eagles so Mama Kelce could get a little green in there. [Reply]

Naw, her character was a waitress at the restaurant. I don't even recall her being at the game. She surely wasn't the role of Jason/Travis Kelce's mom, even though she wore a Travis Kelce jersey. [Reply]

This whole thing is surreal. It’s almost like the story of my own family. It’s shot literally in my hometown, just a mile from my house. I saw the movie being shot, and as you watch it, realize it was shot in July. All those folks wearing winter coats must have been hot as Hell. The snow is fake.
The “Chiefs Store” on the square is usually an antiques store called “Wild About Harry.” Clinton’s is a real soda fountain that was originally a drug store where Harry Truman worked as a teenager.
The only actual “Chiefs Stores” in KC are called “Rally House,” and there’s multiple stores in the Metro.
The BBQ joint is a pizza parlor called “Square Pizza.” Next door is a place called “Discount Casket Outlet” but that is not shown in the movie. Across the street is the Planet Queen Record shop and Big John’s Bar, and Dave’s Bakery is a real place on that block. In some shots you can see Ophelia’s Restaurant, which is in the old Katz Drug Store. You also see the Pharaoh Theater, where Mrs. B and I go to the movies often.
Ex-Chiefs players in the movie include Christian Okoye and Trent Green. Current Chiefs include Trey Smith, CEH, Karlaftis, Hardman and Coach Reid.
You also see KC Wolf, Gracie Hunt and KC’s mayor Quentin Lucas. Travis Kelce’s mom plays the waitress in the restaurant.
The family home is a stone house on River Blvd, just a couple blocks north of the Community of Christ Auditorium. Hi-Boy’s at River and US 24 is about a quarter of a mile down the street.
The plot revolves around a “lucky stocking cap” that the family wears to help the Chiefs win on Christmas. Superstitious Chiefs fans include me. I use the same Chiefs coffee cup my parents gave me in 1980 every game day.
In the movie the family is gifted a pair of seats from Municipal Stadium. Many families in KC have seats like these, as they were sold for charity when the stadium was torn down. This kind of struck home with me, because my mom and dad who are both gone now, sat next to each other at the old stadium in seats just like these. Dusty in here..
There’s shots in the movie in the Chiefs Hall of Honor, which is right where my section is for my Chiefs seats (Section 119). Also, on the alleged Christmas Day game, nobody is wearing extreme cold weather gear. Most times it’s below Freezing in KC on Christmas Day. Not always, but usually.

The story was typical Hallmark sticky icky, and of course, nobody got laid, as usual. I suppose it's implied. But no hard core raw dogging is allowed in Hallmark movies. I understand the lead chick is a Raiders fan in real life, so she'd be a grudge ****.
I also think the rest of the NFL probably wants to puke when they see this. I know if this movie revolved around the Patriots, or the Donks, or God Forbid the Raiders, I’d have no use for it. Hallmark is a Kansas City based company, so its a home town company giving a gift to its own family.
If you’ve ever lived in Independence, you’ll want to see this just because it’s Independence. Curiously, there are no meth lab explosions in the movie.
The Chiefs gave away stocking caps at the last Denver game. Now I get the connection. All in all, I enjoyed just seeing stuff I'm familiar with. Now I'm going to have to watch the entire Band of Brothers box set to shoo away the Gay...
Is this going to cause an influx of tourism In Independence, MO? [Reply]

There was an even more glaring mistake. The plot had the Chiefs needing to beat the Eagles on Christmas day just to secure a wildcard playoff spot. That ain't happening with Andy and Patrick leading the team because we'd be winning the division...again. [Reply]

She was at the game. She was with the family on the field wearing her Eagles/ Chiefs jersey. [Reply]
Main dude is named Derrick Taylor. Clearly after Derrick Thomas.
Diedrich Bader's character - Hank - after Hank Stram
Grandma's name is Norma - after Norma Hunt [Reply]

Heh, we watched it last night. It was cute, was definitely a Hallmark movie. Was definitely cheesy. But when they had that, I joked with the wife that I was over the movie and the plot was terrible because of that part.
