[QUOTE=Hammock Parties;13915368]lol

you aren't supposed to be able to do this in the NFL

That gif. is a prime example of why Smith was completely infuriating. NO ABILITY to make the chicken salad from the shit whence it came. NONE. ZERO.

IMO if Mahomes throws when his back foot hits in his initial drop, it is a big gain to Conley. Having to move with pressure in his face is what ultimately killed the play. I think the route was open to Conley. I just think he saw it a bit late and than once he had to move should have tucked and run.

He was trying to wait to see what happened with Hill and if he could get open. I'm all for throwing it deep, but in this situation, tuck it and run in the middle, slide for a 15 or 20 yard gain and let the clock run.

That's a young gunslinger QB mistake. Take the good with the bad at this point obviously, but that and throwing off his back foot need to become less and less.

In interviews after the game, Mahomes said he was going to Conley who he believed had a couple steps on his guy. The video bears this out. He just recognized it a bit late and the pressure caused him to have to move to even attempt the throw. Combined it made his throw late and we know the rest.

If he was going to throw it to Conley, he was way to late.

Yeah, in real time I tried to defend that as the contact messing up the play.

Nope - Mahomes just goofed. It happens. The only play to make there was to tuck it and run with it. Definitely a mistake on his part and despite all the good he did, it was a mistake that cost us a likely victory. He tucks that ball and runs it, we're inside the two minute warning needing a TD to take the lead.

I think we'd have pulled it off. Definitely a growing pain there.

Once he's come off Hill, it's to late to hit Conley. Yeah, he was open but it would have had to have been thrown a lot earlier.

Just tuck it and run.

Damn, I hope that game doesn't come back to bite us. It should have been a 10 point win.

Face it, we weren’t going 15-1 with a first year starter and bad defense

Better to fail now than in the playoffs. Tired of 13-3 and then one and done. How about take lumps in the regular season so we can shine in the playoffs for the first time in 50 years?

That is what I said. If he throws at the end of his drop it is there. Once the pressure forced him to move it was too late. Just way to big of a chance to take there given the down and distance, field position, and time on the clock. Greedy call, poor execution by Kelce, and poor decision by Mahomes once pressure came.

And to pile on - you still have to wonder how the hell a 4-man rush ended up with Kelce isolated on an edge rusher. I still have to believe someone screwed up that protection call. We have Schwartz diving down to double Suh when Suh had been neutralized all night and in the process leaves that #50 guy who tortured us all night a free run at Kelce.

Sure, Kelce failed, but you're asking a TE to pass block like a RT and that's a recipe for failure just about every time.

He held the ball to long. They rolled the pocket away from Donald so somethings gotta give.

Throw the ball or take off.

Just gotta wonder what he saw there. I mean he sure seems to be looking right at Conley as the defender falls and it's right at the back of his drop. He had plenty of time to step/throw.

He had to be feeling that pressure coming from Kelce's side; maybe saw him out of the corner losing ground and was worried he wouldn't have the space to step up?

It's just such an odd thing to see from him. When's he ever hesitated to pull the trigger?

Just like the Pats game, I'm walking away from that loss saying "eh...I still think we're better..."

That play won't happen again.

That is a wonderful aspect of Mahomes at QB.

Cowherd said the same thing. I think the Chiefs were better than both teams.

But they've gotta stop doing shit like that.

I think he was wanting to take another kill shot to Tyreek and wasn't ever looking at Conley until it was too late. I get it, Tyreek is a badass, but in that situation, just chuck it out of bounds or thru the endzone.

I'd imagine that's what he was talking about in the postgame presser where he ate every bit of the loss (LOL - like it was all on you, son)

Right, I was perplexed in real time. I have no idea what the fuck was happening there. If that was Frank Zombo, maybe you try to cheat over, but Kelce ain't holding that dude down, and in point of fact, he did pretty darn well holding him as long as he did.
