Crazy thing about the UFC though, even the best fighters can get caught by an unexpected punch and go down, just like that. In boxing, you are done if you lose more than 2 or 3 fights, but in the UFC, you routinely see good fighters lose. [Reply]
I watched the 5 or 6 undercard fights right before this one for free on the internet. The lightweight undercard right before this quick underwhelming fight on fox was awesome, almost ended several times in each round, went the distance. [Reply]

Those fights are usually the better, more entertaining fights. Shame I missed them and only caught this dud. [Reply]
Was great to see Cigano win the title, he has worked so hard! The Bendo-Guida fight was actually great as well, glad the UFC aired it everywhere else except in the US on Fox live. Was nice seeing how educated the Fox announcer was before the fights, much better than Gus Johnson on strikeforce(filho da puta). Anyways, happy to see Junior win. Cain didn't look horrible, just tried to slip and counter with his lead left hook (like he did against Big Nog) and got crushed by Jr.'s overhand right. I still think that this fight will be a good rematch down the road, but nothing will ever have as much hype, electricity, e excitement that Fedor v. Mirko did. [Reply]

Carwin is going to be 37 years old by the time he gets his rematch, I'm not sure he is the same guy and I'm really not sure his conditioning will be improved by then.
Apparently Dos Santos is some kind of ultra-modern laser guided bomb, cant believe i forgot the free fight thats been hyped for months, what a dummy. [Reply]
I initially thought Cain would win this one until both men got to the ring. It was obvious that one had the heart of the champion and the other was carrying the pressure of a country. Cain had a genuine look of concern on his face during the fight announcement.
The only thing missing from the Fox broadcast was the robot shadow boxing in the corner of the screen. [Reply]
I personally think JDS might run a nice streak of wins defending the title. The new "blue print" for MMA seems that you need to be a superior striker and superior defender. If you look at most of the champs these days that is what they typically are. Of course they are more then just that, but their bread and butter seems to be to keep the fight on their feet and dominate in that fashion. GSP maybe the exception the rule, but he can strike with the best of them and is one of the best defenders at MMA. [Reply]
Just watched Bendo vs Guida on youtube. Damn, what a fight. The whole thing was pretty intense throughout but the last minute was something else. Would have loved to see it on Fox in HD. [Reply]

I have been saying this forever.
Great ground defense with the ability to keep it standing, is what MMA has become. This is where fights are won now. Stuff the guys shot, then force him to stand. [Reply]
