Mahomes has stated before that quite a few teams came to see him to gage his interest in playing baseball, but he made it clear through his ridiculous asking price that he wasn't interested in pursuing baseball, which kept teams from drafting him.
I am not saying he would have been a first round draft choice, but he definitely would have went much, much sooner.
Why are we even talking about his contract. It doesn't make any sense. WHEN it's due -- which is a while yet -- he'll get whatever % of the cap corresponds to being the best QB in the league, assuming he keeps it up. Goff and Wentz will get paid first -- and Mahomes will then get X% more, as he deserves.
Words like discount don't even make sense. Other than maybe Brady after a decade of already earning a shit-ton, no one takes a discount. If it's 10 years, $350 million - sign me up. I really couldn't care any less. We have this guy, the type of guy we've all spent our entire lives dreaming of having, and some of you are talking contract and hoping he feels like forfeiting dozens of millions of dollars out of the goodness of his heart.
