Nzoner's Game Room>Space Exploration megathread
DaFace 09:40 AM 06-01-2014
Since a number of cool things are happening in space exploration these days, we'll widen the scope of this thread a smidge. Conversation about all things space exploration are welcome, whether it be from NASA, SpaceX, ULA, Blue Origin, or anyone else. Chances are most of the discussion will still be about SpaceX since they love to make things public and fun, but nothing's off limits. I'll eventually get around to modifying the OP to include resources for other companies too, but in the meantime, feel free to post any cool stuff you run across.

I have to leave at like 6am to get up to the mountains for a volunteering thing, so I may be exhausted, but I'm sure gonna try to watch.

Yep. It'll seem pretty much like any other CRS launch to the ISS except the capsule is different and has a dummy inside. When it actually gets to ISS, it will DOCK on its own rather than BERTH like Dragon 1 does (where the Canadarm grabs it and guides it into the port).

For what it's worth, the dummy's name is a "Stargal" and is named...

Also, LC-39a is looking damn sexy with its new cladding and crew access arm.

I just realized that this event is literally the reason I started this thread back in 2014. Here's the original OP:

Almost gets me a little emotional just thinking about it.

I really can't get over how much cooler the pad looks. I know that shit doesn't matter, but I can't deny that SpaceX's preference for making shit look neat is a nice bonus. Compare the before:
