Been a rough start for me for Spring turkey. Early on they were henned up bad and had a couple of run ins with a big male coyote busting up the flock. Finally got on the board yesterday morning. Same big male coyote again chasing them but this time he help flush them back towards me. After the ruckus settled and with a few soft clucks and purrs this tom came in on a string to my set strutting, spitting and drumming to 35 yards. Final stats 21.2lbs., 11.25" beard, left spur 1.575", right spur 1.496" for total score of 74.41. Hope everyone is having a great season!
I had the best day turkey hunting yesterday I have ever had. Im bow hunting from a blind and had gobblers near but not close gobbling at daylight. Shortly after flydown I hit some soft clucks and yelped a few times and had a gobbler hammer back...that was 624 am. I had him work in to 55 yards, way to far for a bow shot but got to see him. A huge old gobbler. Ive killed a 26 1/2 pounder and have my grand slam so I know my birds...this was a toad. He was also smart and old and knew that he gobbles and hens come to him...not one to run after hens...long story short, I had him inside of 100 yards from 624 am till 1245 pm...never got a shot but he gobbled and did everything possible to get me to come to him for the entire time. Headed back tomorrow to try again...I killed a 25 pounder 3 beards 1 inch spurs last week with gun. [Reply]
I'm m glad you're all having good seasons. I've been too busy and SMS ashamed to say I haven't been in the woods enough to find a single mushroom or to hear a single gobble this year.

Adulting is getting in the way of my fun.
do you find the most stupid are the easiest to hunt? easy tagged? used to be that the effort in making the blind determined the kill. [Reply]
have remains of a steer carcass that was quartered. Lighting it up with the RZR light bars and a couple of spots. Been calling in coyotes. 300 WIN MAG has no problems scoping these coyotes out. I also take along the Black Rain AR. Got 3 so far. A few nights ago seen a bobcat. [Reply]

Knock on wood, haven't been called out to any hunting incidents related to that, but they had one in SE Kansas already.
No turkey on the planet is worth sticking my face behind a fan while a bunch of trespassing dumb fucks are running all over hell playing Facebook Rambo. [Reply]

Might want to double-check the regulations about using artificial light to hunt coyotes.
