WWE NEWS: WWE LEGEND BIG VAN VADER CLAIMS DOCTORS TOLD HIM HE HAS TWO YEARS LEFT TO LIVE
JOE BURGETT
If there was ever a big man who did not get enough credit as an amazing performer, it was Big Van Vader (aka Vader). He was a big name in Japan, but he also made an impact in WCW and WWE. Interestingly, people previously used Vader to help them retire. Pro wrestlers would get nice insurance policies, and due to Vader being a big man who worked stiff, people would get hurt and cash in.
Eventually, however, this came to an end. WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley told a similar story in his WWE documentary. Vader was a WCW World Champion, but he never truly achieved major success in the WWE despite performing at a high level with the business. He was used primarily to help guys get over, and every job he was asked to do, he did.
As a big man, he had to work as a big man. However, Vader felt that he could be more, so he would do heavily athlete moves for someone of his size. He would even do a moonsault from the top rope, and heaven help anyone who had to take the move. Regardless, he was an amazing super heavyweight who could always deliver at a high level.
Sadly, Vader’s time on this Earth may be limited. Vader took to Twitter to tell the world that doctors have told him he has about two years left to live.
He claimed, “Told by 2 heart Drs that my heart is wore out I have been given less than two yrs to live I am only now allowing this as part of my reality.”
This is a big blow for Vader and his family, who love and appreciate all he has done for them. Of course, the fans appreciate what he has done for the business over the years, and it’s absolutely terrible to hear that he could be leaving us far too early in life. However, it seems Vader is facing this reality head on. He wants to make sure the world sees him as a man who saw the issues and went to the end fighting.
Before the tweet above came out, he posted that wrestling and football did this to him.
“Told by 2.heart Drs at this time that my heart is wore out from football&wrestling I have 2 yrs to live, congestive heart failure reality.”

Of course, it’s possible that football and wrestling did not wear out his heart. He has been a big guy for years, and it is possible that the heart issues have been going on for some time. However, this is all speculation at the moment.
This is most likely why he wanted to redo things and tweet out what we see above. Weirdly, what Vader could do in his time was phenomenal, to say the very least. He is a legend in the business who will hopefully be recognized for it by the WWE through their Hall of Fame. During the prime of his career, Vader was successful all over the world. He was actually the first non-Japanese wrestler ever to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship in NJPW, and of course, he also saw time with every major wrestling promotion.
What he did as a super heavyweight wrestler is clearly only matched by a handful of people in the wrestling industry. Fans truly appreciate Vader and wish him well during the remaining years of his life. Hopefully, we will see as much of him as possible in the time he has left, whether that is in WWE or not.
