Nzoner's Game Room>Chiefs trade Tyreek Hill to the Dolphins
Dante84 10:34 AM 03-23-2022
Will update OP with more info.

Here it is: The #Chiefs are trading six-time Pro Bowl WR Tyreek Hill to the #Dolphins, sources tell me and @TomPelissero.

The return is a first-round pick and more, while Hill gets a contract extension that puts him among the highest paid WRs in the NFL.

Chiefs are trading six-time Pro-Bowl WR Tyreek Hill to the Miami Dolphins for five draft picks: a 2022 1st-round pick (No. 29), a 2nd-round pick (No. 50) and a 4th-round pick, as well as 4th- and 6th-round picks in the 2023 draft, sources tell ESPN.

I mean, come ON. What sense does that make?

It's one thing to disagree with the plan. It's another to just willfully disregard what is plain to see.

Veach and Reid clearly wanted to change the make-up of the roster; the team was too top heavy and we were seeing diminishing returns. We needed to get younger, and we need to get deeper and broader in our overall talent level.

TO ME, what this offseason says is that-NO, losing in the AFCCG is not an acceptable outcome. Getting to, and winning play-off games is no longer an acceptable outcome. KC wants to win SB's, and anything else is a disappointment.

They've said as much. The numbers show they're right. Not kicking the can down the road and extending Mahomes and Thuney is prudent. This year, and next year, should set us up well for the future. We will absolutely still contend THIS year.

I really don't understand all the gloom and doom, other than people just being emotional and not wanting to let go.
Yeah, I agree with all of this. A lot of people are emotionally attached to Hill and are still throwing their toys out of the pram about the trade, but the team has a clear vision. More weapons and adjusting to the way defenses have adjusted to us.

We did well for about 4 years with the system we were running, centered on Hill and Kelce. As defenses adjusted and took away the big plays, we found that often we didn't have the ability to move the chains as much as we should have. We didn't have the ability to sustain drives when Hill and/or Kelce faced double coverage. Drops and self-inflicted wounds killed drives without the big plays. It was really only Mahomes' ability to extend plays that kept the offense afloat, despite having a great offensive line.

The team is now searching for people at the WR and RB spots that are better at getting open than the guys we had before, apart from Hill who clearly didn't care much about being in KC anymore, as long as he got paid.

Running the same offense out their next year would have been a clear step backwards. I think Veach saw what was coming and that now was the time to rebuild, while they could get a haul for Hill who was on his way to the exit anyway.

He's running the Chiefs like great teams that are perennial contenders are run. He's not running them like the Dolphins or the Raiders, breaking the bank and trading big chunks of a draft for aging players.

They still have to get the draft picks right, but it's the correct move to give the team a revamp.

In their defense Reid and Verch have provided us the longest, most successful run in franchise history.

And it's not even close

There is like no one on this site that disagrees or questions every single thing Reid and Veach do, but there sure as shit are a ton that act like they've never made a mistake.

Who thinks there is a nefarious conspiracy taking place? The homers here always act like any criticism of the HC and GM means that the poster wants them fired. You guys are always over exaggerating that shit.

And for the record what your saying has nothing to do with my post. People are always using Reid's words in a press conference as evidence that they are right. It's coach speak and has zero substance at all as evidence of anything.

Doesn't mean everything they say should be taken as absolute fact as to how a situation played out

Wanna know the funny thing about all this....

It's mainly you guys who keep bringing the Tyreek shit up to me. Just like this thread...no one had posted in it for 22 days and then someone wants to bump it to call me out :-). What sense does that make?

And no one thinks Veach is out to dismantle the team. People just disagree with some moves. It's a discussion board, we're allowed to disagree with moves and discuss them if we want. Veach could get a good DE, CB and WR in the next week thru trades and the draft and we're right back to business.

But yeah in the meantime people will discuss the moves we have made so far and their impact whether that be positively or it be negatively. Might want to not go into some threads if that's going to bunch your panties. Or if you think that disagreeing with some Veach moves somehow means you think he's out to purposefully hurt the team.

THIS is why I hold their word as Gospel because we are the most winning football & have a Super Bowl belt in last 5 years why the fuck would we stop losing now? The cap changes affects EVERY team and it's the successful teams that are the ones who know how to let the vets go even though I expect Travis to retire a Chief he isn't going demand the highest contract on earth either.

SUCK OUR BALLS NFL MOST WINS IN 5 YEARS. SUCK OUR BALLS.

We expect to win a Super Bowl every year but reality we are in contention and battle for the right for the Super Bowl other teams are doing the same thing trying be the best so you work the draft and be smart in FA. That's what we are doing. Because of the cap dictates a lot of moves and non moves. Hills trade did us a favor that we can capitalize on getting better across the board be more balanced offense and defense. Hill won't be forgotten but he won't be missed.

SUCK OUR BALLS AFCWEST SUCK OUR BALLS NFL Most wins last 5 years.

Hail to the Chiefs 60 wins last 5 years

LA Chargers 42

LA Raiders 35

Broncos 30

We have twice as many wins in last five years than the Broncos no wonder we beat them 13 times in a row. :-)

Change brought the success. Fear of it now makes little rational sense

The Raid has more wins than the Donks?

Subtract the Raids' 12 win season and ouch.

There are certain things they're not going to say.

They're not going to say, "Tyrann is kind of small, and not real fast to begin with and didn't have a great season. We felt like getting younger and more athletic at his position was in our best interest."

No, they're not going to say that. I think once you understand what's coach-speak and what's not that they've been pretty transparent and honest. They're not going to trash somebody publicly, nor should they.

Hill has been great here. You know what his ypc was in '21?

11.2 yards per catch. Defenses had learned to negate him as a deep threat.

Juju has topped that in 3 of his 5 NFL seasons. MVS is way, way above that every year. So is Mecole Hardman.

If defenses are going to negate what Hill can do that nobody else can anyway, then why not move on, take the boatload of picks, and start restocking the cupboard?

Yep.

Miami fan will get excited, win a few games, then Tua will shit down his leg when it really counts.

We could write a thesis on their upcoming season.

And this is how Tyreek is going to handle it in Miami when they lose
