Media Center>Jack Reacher
Ubeja Vontell 12:22 AM 09-10-2019
I discovered Lee Childs Jack Reacher stories about 10 years ago, what a great read. Usually we find Reacher hitch hiking, as he wanders the USA, somebody will eventually pick him up despite having a hulkish look at 6-6 260ish. And our story begins.

When I heard there was going to be a movie, yep, excited. But........Tom Cruise? How can the 5-8 170 (guessing) sell the huge Jack Reacher? In the stories the size of Reacher is a constant, we get it.....big bad hombre. Tom Cruise a big bad hombre......nay!

X pro rassler/current actor Dave Batista.....perfect.

If a movie is based on a literary character why not stay as close as possible to the story?

I guess the worst casting job ever was John Wayne as Ghanghis Ghan, What were they thinking?

Guess I am the odd man on this....I actually enjoyed the 2nd season, although I agree nowhere near as good as the first.

I feel like season 2 missed a lot of the Reacher’s dry humor. And as someone said before the season didn’t go into his thought process. I was annoyed by the constant, “you don’t mess with the special investigators.”

Season 2 lacked all the subtlety that the first one had. They hit you over the head with the plot twists before they happened. The first season’s book was also much better than the second season’s. Any idea what book season 3 used?

He needs to be wrong at least once.

Another season of Jack Reacher: Omniscient God Figure would just annoy the hell out of me.

Because in the books, occasionally he just has a hunch that misfires. He gets on track (obviously) but he doesn't have the right answer every single time.

The story was mediocre but most critically, the storytelling was bad. The way they got to everything was just so frustratingly telegraphed. There wasn't a true 'twist' in there that wasn't given away at least an episode prior.

Persuader, the 7th book in the series.

This happens in the latest book, and the author calls out his ability to guess passwords. The newer books are written by the original author’s brother and aren’t nearly as good.

Yeah - turning these series over to family is just...lazy.

Am I really supposed to believe that, coincidentally, Frank Herbert's son is the guy with the talent and best perspective to continue the Dune series and give it its best possible treatment?

Meanwhile folks tend to cite the 'handoff' from Robert Jordan to Brandon Sanderson as being particularly well done.

The fact that Lee Child's brother just HAPPENS to be the guy that takes over the series tells me that he never really intended to put it in the best possible hands. He just handed it to his family and said "aight, I'm bored of this - do with it what you will..."

Kevin J. Anderson most likely actually wrote all those new Dune books despite Brian's name also being attached to them. Kevin's not a bad writer.

I read an interview with Lee Child and he almost killed Reacher off. After reading his brother’s interpretation of the character, that may not have been bad.

It's been awhile since I watched it, but I was in the same boat. Thought it was decent, just not as good as the first season. Looking forward to season 3.

Yeah, I've given my thoughts on the Anderson/Herbert collaborations in the various Dune threads.

Just am not a fan.

They're strict sci-fi. Very ordinary.
