This is horrifying. Supposed to be a press conference soon with more details. Rumors seem to indicate it happened on the Verrukt, the world's tallest waterslide.

I bet their p.r person is secretly hoping for a school shooting and then having incredible pangs of guilt about it. [Reply]
As I think about it, I really hope this isn't one of those rides that snaps your picture automatically on the way down. I don't want to see that picture showing up on the Internet at some point. [Reply]

Lost earning potential is huge for someone that has a spouse and/or dependents. But I wouldn't think his parents would be able to make any claims on his lost earnings. [Reply]

Yep, specially with his father being in a high profile position. Doesn't look good for a politician suing even IF it's his kid. He will get a decent sum no doubt but for the sake of this guy's political career he would be wise to be on the down low about it. [Reply]
I think someone said earlier that this was a special federal lawmakers employee day or something like that. If it was I can see how then the employees can get laxed on the rules or maybe were told to be more lenient since this was a catered event? You wonder?? if this kid like a lot of kids would be was trying to catch air on the 2nd hump ? The girls riding behind him as traumatized as they are will be grilled by both sides lawyers for sure to find out if the employee was laxed (wink wink) and knew age, height and weight weren't up to specs ? Was this the kid's first time? If not, did he realize from the previous ride or rides that he could potentially catch air on the 2nd hump riding in the front and did so??? Will be interesting to see how it all unfolds for sure. [Reply]

If he gets the multi-million $ payday he should I doubt he'll give two shits about his political career. [Reply]

I'm wondering if the design of this thing went overboard?
I forget which channel, probably Travel, but watched a documentary on this thing not too long after it opened... all of the revisions and tests it went through, the mayor coming out to Christen it and all of that, engineers patting each other on the back
It seems they found the limits of their knowledge [Reply]
They weigh you twice before you get on the ride, once at the bottom and once before you get in the raft just so you don't switch groups or something. I highly doubt the riders were under the weight limit. Either the strap malfunctioned or the kid unstrapped himself. [Reply]

I have that problem with Velcro gets lint and stuff stuck in it but im sure this is some industrial strength stuff. I dont take a whole lot from that because how many rafts are going at once. It would be strange that they were having trouble with the front ones on every raft. [Reply]
