TL;DR, his concern was at a 2, and now it's a 4 (out of 10). Still probably not a huge deal, but there are some concerning possibilities. Overall, though, he thinks it all gets pled down to misdemeanors, he misses a couple of games, and he writes some massive checks to those he injured.

The first 6 charges - hybrid felonies - get plead down as the misdemeanor versions of themselves and he ends up getting 12 months in county concurrently but with an SIS (so no felony record). The 7th and 8th charges are dropped as part of the plea (and honestly, I have no earthly idea how they can even stick anyway).
2-4 game suspension but I still think 2 feels more likely. Again, we've gone over the array of personal conduct penalties not involving DV and it's a smorgasbord for far hairier shit that got 1-2 games.

Time and money.
Do they have the resources to go to war over this? Is it a precedent they even WANT to set? I mean if they hang Rice for this, now are they going to find themselves in a situation where later defendants are less likely to be cooperative because they barbecued Rice? Agreed, he’s starting at 8 and will be lucky to get it down to 6. There are optics here that look almost worse than the crimes. The NFL will punish him probably more than the justice system because they don’t have to go by the law. They can assume he was probably drunk and/or high while driving, and leaving the scene completely screwed him. It looks so bad.
