The #Chiefs and All-Pro DT Chris Jones have a blockbuster deal to keep him in KC, per his agents @KatzBrosSports. The top free agent is off the market and a huge move for the champs. pic.twitter.com/BHmM49TCtt
Chiefs and five-time Pro-Bowl DT Chris Jones reached agreement on a record 5-year deal that includes $95 million guaranteed and allows KC to keep its best defender before free agency begins, per his agents, @KatzBrosSports.
Man, it's just so good to see this get done. I don't know or care about the cap shit, they know what they're doing. It's just nice to see a guy we drafted who is an absolute stud stay with us till the end of his career.

I definitely think Andy outlasts Travis, maybe even Chris too. [Reply]
Has anyone had to go to the ER because of an erection lasting more than 4 hours? It's been close to 12 hours since the news broke and I want to make sure everyone is ok. [Reply]
All the risks we talked about for weeks still exist, if the body breaks down we will look back and hate this deal
But I do think this makes more sense than letting him go now that they’ve made it a “5-year” deal where the cap hits can be lower for the first three years that he’s actually guaranteed to be here.
Replacing Chris was always going to be the hardest task yet compared to other players like Tyreek, Tyrann, etc.
Giving Wilkins $25m AAV over Chris at $32m might have worked out, but that was too risky in the sense that it could totally ruin your defensive chemistry and how those guys view management if they see us send Chris AND Sneed away.
This deal is about 2024-2026 and we are objectively better with a healthy Chris Jones as our defensive leader still. [Reply]
Holy shit! What a nice treat this morning. We have 0 titles without the man. It's a completely different defense when he's on the field and he's come up huge in key moments time and time again. Well deserved contract. [Reply]
