Yep, we were poop pretty much everywhere on D, but I think you can (and we almost did) get away with being poor against the run. If you can't defend the pass and get after the QB, that's worse. [Reply]

Their pass defense should be better this year in the back 7. Also Spags is going to be sending guys like Chenal and Cook on blitzes to help get after the QB
We were never going to get an elite front 4 with the way the offseason worked out. But we can get a hard as nails back 7 that covers [Reply]

The interesting thing about our draft so far is that it seems we are very committed to stopping the run. The question will be how we hold up in an afc west that is better at passing than running.
I think with our versatile D picks so far we will be able to run both 4/3 or 3/4 when needed. And to your question about holding up against the pass I think our disruption will finally take care of that. [Reply]
Hopefully without the roids and emitting saliva.:-)
This guy is soooooooo old school with his play and I absolutely love this pick. The 2nd coming of Willie Lanier has finally come because this guy is a true thumper.:-) [Reply]
This is probably my favorite pick of the draft because it has floor AND an enormous ceiling.
Chenel is immediately a great run defender and solid pass rusher. That can bring value in its own right and make him a solid Sam prospect in base packages.
And he has every physical tool you could ask for in becoming a good coverage player. He’s simply never been asked to do it. And it’s going to take some time to learn how. His feel in space will take some time.
But there’s legit horse 3-down backer potential. He can do some of the Devin White stuff where he gets downhill right now on 3rd downs with the ability to eventually just be a solid coverage player and thus be a real difficult guy to read and gameplan for.
I haven’t fully settled on ‘ranking’ picks, but he’s up there. Hard to find anything to not be excited about here. [Reply]
