Nzoner's Game Room>*****THE OFFICIAL CIGAR THREAD*****
Bwana 06:06 PM 07-06-2010
About the only cigars I have ever tied into, other than a few Cuban Cohiba's before a few years ago, were nasty stock. I started flying to Belize every year on vacation and while I was there, I started trying several different varieties and was pleasantly surprised. At this point I have two humidors and several different selections. I still don't smoke that many, but I break one out on Friday nights, or when the boys are over for a beer. Are any of you guys into cigars?

Caesars
Casa Fuente
Sat there a few years ago smoking a cigar next to Pete Rose taking a break from signing autographs at the sports memorabilia place. I think it was Field of Dreams or something like that. They sell Fuente's only available there.

I saw Pete Rose at Caesars signing autographs once too. I thought about asking him to sign the Albert Pujols jersey I was wearing at the time.

I've been to Rhumbar in Mirage, they have some beer/cigar pairings that are pretty good.

CigarPage has some banger 5 packs for $17.99 per right now. I just picked up some MB3, several Caldwell blends, Crowned Heads Mil Dias, and the La Palina Illumination that I've been wanting to try. I don't think I have room, though. Ordering another tupperdor on Amazon right now. Oops.

One of the things I did at Outlaw Cigar & Brewery in the Northland.

They have a Decibel Up Chiefs themed cigar that's pretty decent.
They have a great selection of cigars paired with whiskeys and their own beers.

I need to try using their site - I've missed some good deals.

How are they with shipping times?

Any complaints like dried out cigars or wrong orders?

Absolutely no complaints. I've done dozens of orders with 0 issues. I get probably 95% of my stuff from there. Cigars usually arrive in about a week, which is a little longer than say Fox Cigar (a site I like for buying singles). They are way cheaper, though. The only site I've found that is sometimes cheaper is CBid if you want to mess with auctions. I believe CigarPage is owned by the same company that owns Olivia, so they can offer cheaper prices on legit brand cigars.
They do promote some weird off brand cheapies, but I've stuck with the proven brands. I've read some people complain that they don't ship with Bovedas, but I think that is kind of gimmicky anyway. I've never had cigars arrive dried out. The only maybe complaint is you'll get spammed by emails when you order, but I don't mind. A lot of times the emails direct you to deals you don't see if you just browse their site. My only other complaint is that their site UI kind of sucks. If you're new to cigars and trying to find a lot of good info on the different sticks this site won't help. If you know what you're looking for it is awesome, though.

I've spent about $7,800 at Cigars International in the last 2 1/2 years and have been very happy with one very early exception with a 20 cigar Super Bowl 90+ rating sampler pack that had some dried out cigars.

I need to surf Cigar Page when I'm reloading and buy the best deals. I just hate getting whacked with two shipping charges but it should be easy to overcome with the savings.

I love the Master Blends 3 and the Oliva Series V Melanio, I am having a Melanio today.

CP is free shipping on every order, so that's another bonus. Just shop the deals and you'll be good to go there.

Smoking a Liga Privada #9 Belicoso this morning. It is a fantastic cigar that is becoming so hard to get in bulk.

Almost 2 hours in and almost done. Great flavor and really a great cigar for experienced smokers. Not one for beginners.

They also have become very pricey. Were about $7.50 - $8.00 a few years ago and now pushing $11 - $12.

I paid over $12 with tax for a single I bought at Churchill's in Chandler a few nights ago.

This in a nutshell is the problem with a cigar! Who has that kinda time? With a pipe, I can load up a bowl for a quick smoke if I am short on time. I have pipes specifically for short smokes.

That caught my attention, too. I had to look up that cigar to try to figure out why it took him that long. I thought maybe it was unusually large or something. Doesn't appear that way. I don't see why it would take more than 30-45 minutes to smoke a cigar.

It's a cigar size with some heft and strength to it. It's a little dense and oily, which burn a little slower. You also don't power puff these.

I have my go to robustos like the Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Excalibur that is both mild and smokes quick as it is not oily, so rarely need to relight it.

My range of smoking time for cigars goes from 10 minutes for a single coronet cigarillo they sell in those tins to 2 1/2 - 3 hours for a La Flor Dominica Double Ligero Digger, a powerhouse full strength of 8.5 inches x 60 ring band. You're not smoking those often.

My average smoke time is 40-50 minutes.

There are good small cigars out there for a quick smoke. I really like the Fuente Hemingway Short Story, although I haven't smoked one in awhile because I like taking my time!
