Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

Voodoo: Not good. Very artificial tasting. Smell was interesting, but the taste didn't live up. Slightly better than the first Rogue Voodoo brew, but not by much.

75 Minute: Very tasty, and unique. The maple addition in an IPA was interesting. It worked, but I prefer a non-maple IPA, given a choice. Didn't taste anywhere near 7.5%.

Framboise: Phenomenal. The color on the beer was amazing, and the aroma was even better. Flavor was perfectly balanced between the raspberry and the sour.

Enjoy By: Excellent. Tasted super fresh, and more hop-forward than a lot of DIPAs. Hid the ABV extremely well - could drink a lot of this without realizing I was getting wrecked. Next Enjoy By is coming to Minneapolis, so that will be awesome...

We have a few SD connections, so regularly get access to stuff from there. The Alpine growler was obviously from there (LOVE Alpine), as were a couple of the RRs. I think that was it for this round, though. One of the guys is living in Tacoma, so has access to other west coast stuff...

Yeah, it was amazing. We've been trying to do the RR sour horizontal for a while, and finally got it done. We also had an '08 - '12 Surly Darkness vertical, but decided to put that one off for another time...

Having a New Belgian Rampant India Pale Ale.

Not bad at all.

Two-Hearted is my favorite non-Boulevard offering by far.
I tried the two-hearted a while back and it was good, but it costs almost twice as much as Single Wide. I definitely didn't think it was worth the extra $5 per six-pack.

isn't Single Wide like $10 per 4 pack? I pay around $12 for a 6 pack of Two Hearted. Your math doesn't add up. The Two Hearted is actually a bit cheaper.

It may be the $20/case price tag at SAM's, but I'm loving me some Blvd Pilsner this week.

That's double wife. Single wide is not a Smokestack.

Ahh, good point. I kind of forget about Single Wide.

What's it cost? Around $8-$9 a sixer where you're at? All the six pack prices have gone up around here quite a bit in the last year or so.

Yeah it's like 8 for sixers of regular blvd around here.

Single Wide is 7.99 per six - pack around here, but most of the time it's on sale somewhere for 6.99. I am 99% sure I paid 10.99 for a six-pack of Two Heated Ale, so I guess it's only a $4 difference (when the Single Wide is on sale).

Still, it surprised me when my total was almost $12 after tax for the Two-Hearted.

I've been recommending that beer on this site since back when I was the only beer snob... more than a decade.

Just watched a clip on YouTube, gotta ask do you drink it at room temp like they suggest on the video?

I don't, no. But I drink it a lot warmer than most people drink their beers. But I haven't quite gotten snobby enough to go full european on them.

heh It used to be one of the only craft brews I could get in Fort Worth for awhile without going to the Flying Saucer.

I drank so much of it (and threw up so much of it) that while I appreciate it, I can't drink it anymore (same thing for Chimay).

Depending on beer type I like mine around 50F.

Lagers or light beers colder but most good ales and stouts etc...are good 48-50F. Cold enough to taste good without killing the flavors.

I'm with you, room temp is a bit much for me.
