Terrible here today.

I didn't go out until mid morning today, sat a spot I watched at least 25 bucks walk towards last year with same wind. Only deer I saw was when neighbor and their kids were playing hide and seek in their timber 200-300 yards south of my spot....and then drove their atv around their pasture....kids seemed to be having fun but it didn't help.....they went to play in the creek a quarter section to the sout, but I could see them. Around 4 they started up the atv and a doe and shooter buck shot out of a draw 200 yards up a draw from my spot only deer I saw today. Then around 5 they went back up to their house to shoot guns......

Only excitement I had I was making snapchat of squirrel with big nut in its mouth walking up limb towards me....it started to move fast and jumped onto the tree about 6" above my head.

I hate squirrels.

Out pheasant hunting Saturday in northern NE. Dad and I got our limits in three hours. We have great dogs, though.
I haven't seen the population like this in years. We got into a group of 30+ in a ditch at one time. We saw a total of 50 in just a few hours.
It's some amazing shit.

Had a large 10 point come out in front of me this morning..made some scraps..polished a few rubs..walked in front and stood broadside at 13 yards of my blind..I draw my bow and go to line up the shot..FUCKING RELEASE BREAKS..arrow flies up and sticks into a black oak about 30 feet up..deer looks at me like I am crazy..I say a few colorful words..deer jogs off

It broke..one of the fingers that close broke at the hinge point..it is a T.R.U Ball release..it has been a really good release so I'm sure it is a fluke deal with it..I went and bought a new one just like it

Most awesome day to sit and not see a deer. Freaking gorgeous afternoon. Starting to chill as sun sets. Gonna ease out to the cabin, get fire goin in the wood stove, grab a shower, pour a touch of scotch, and call my most radical Mizzou grad friend and listen to an epic rant.

And I hate squirrels more.

I finally saw some signs of the rut tonight. 7 bucks chased 2 doe around most of the evening. Not a single buck was even close to 100". Something seems seriously off with my deer population this year.

In town or rural?

If you're not worried about family pets, foot trap or snare them. Coyotes are about the only pelts worth anything this year.
