OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

I watch our offense and I'm already completely numb to all this awesome shit when it happens. You just go into every game and know we're gonna completely skullfuck the opposing defense.

Wow, Pat really threw that ball 40 yards on the run sidearm while falling down. Oh well, that's what he does I guess.

I think it's because the Vermeil years partially conditioned us to react less to this kind of football.

Now when that was all fresh and new, however, we were going out of our minds.

They score in 5 plays a lot. Makes it tough on the D>
"Shit - it's 2nd and 17....We might have to face a 3rd down on this drive..."

The only time I can remember rooting for a team like this was Chase Daniel at Mizzou in 2007 with Maclin, Rucker, Coffman, Franklin, Saunders and a solid running game. Penalties didn't matter. Sacks didn't matter.

"3rd and 23? Meh - we got this..."

It was no harder for them to convert a 3rd and 15 than a 3rd and 1.

To have that feeling with an NFL team is just bizarre.

I get annoyed by the penalties that put them in unfavorable down and distance, but I always think they'll probably get the first down anyway. I NEVER thought like that before Mahomes.

If Hunt keeps doing what he’s doing, he can take Gurleys spot.

I never will take PMII for granted, and I'm relishing every moment of the Chiefs success.

Oh, I know. But he would have been just what the doctor ordered for our defense. Can you imagine a young stud filling out the back end of our defense?

I'm guessing that costs our 2nd, both 3rds and this coming season's 1st - which may still not have quite gotten it done.

I mean hell, I'm not going to say that wouldn't have even been worthwhile, but that's a whole TON of hindsight when it would've happened in a world where we were unaware of Berry's foot ouchie.

We'd have effectively punted on the 2018 draft and kicked a stool out of '19 for a safety. Right now that doesn't seem like it's a completely crazy idea but at the time it sure would've been questionable. And even with the benefit of hindsight that may not have been the best idea.

I agree. It just made me tingle-y thinking about it.
