IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Seriously, they talked for years about how the Chiefs offense with Alex wasn't explosive enough, but now it's too explosive.
All of the talking heads think our defense is terrible in every department.

They don’t even give us respect by acknowledging we have a damn good pass rush to compliment our offense. Or that we have a really good 3rd down D. They don’t talk about us getting Houston or Berry back.

They don’t have a ****ing clue because they don’t pay any attention to us outside of our exciting offense.

KC has history against Phillips...an knows Peters better than anyone. PM was torching him in practice. I think Reid exploits Marcus with Hill...Talib wont be there for the Mexico game.

It's going to be an awesome game...my only concern is both LA teams will be in play in this one. It's pretty obvious getting the Chargers to the post-season is NFL priority #1. A KC loss kills two birds with one lopsided called game. The refs in Mexico (Raiders/Texans) is still the worst officiated game I've ever seen....up there with the 3 free plays with :00 remaining.

Rodney Harrison tried this bullshit on SNF...blabbering about how the Chargers are a better all around team.

I'd sure like to know how...both our offense and special teams are head and shoulders above them, they just cut their kicker FFS...

Everyone was on the Chargers before the season so they think they're justified now because they've won a few games in a row.

They don't worry me at all.

I mean, Nick Wright gives the defense credit, but it often gets masked over because he's always talking to those two knuckle-dragging simpletons Eric Mangini and Cris Carter.

Yeah, that was pretty funny too.

We may very well lose to SD. They're good.

But Anthony LYnn is gonna come in on short rest and beat Andy Reid and we're gonna act like it's a done deal? Nah.

Lynn has definitely become a much better coach from his 1st to 2nd year, but even I question if he has the balls to run run run Melvin Gordon down our throats all day. Because that's how you would beat us, but you have to stay consistent with it.
I dont think it is the way to beat us to be honest. You will not be able to score 35+ (which is what you will need to beat us) by running down the clock on yourself. Because we score so quick losing the TOP means very little to us. Admittedly teams have tried it but i think its one of the reasons they haven't got really near us on the scoreboard.

In addition running down the clock is not a viable strategy when 14 down at some point before half time which almost everyone finds themselves against us.

That's the problem when an athlete has the kind of start that Patrick has had. He's so good right now that he doesn't really have a lot of room for improvement. Realistically how much better do you expect him to get? As long as he can maintain the pace that he's on now he will always be in the upper tier of quarterbacks each year. Don't put unreachable expectations on him, enjoy what he has already shown us.

It's hard to see him getting better. What you can expect to see is more consistency. And that's not to say he's inconsistent now. The more experience, the less likely for a let down game.

Jesus dude...no defense in the league has been able to keep pace with those O's and our won't either.

The Chiefs will have to score 35+ at least to beat those teams. The Rams and Chargers throwing the ball over the yard on you isn't an indictment.
Saints.

Or that our corners make up in depth what they give up in top end.

We dont have a shut down #1 corner but it's hard to argue that there are more than a couple of teams that have gotten better performance 1-3 than we have.

The talking heads can eat some dicks.

The Chargers 5 game winning streak is fraudulent: San Francisco, Oakland, Cleveland, Tennessee, Seattle. Look at those teams! And 3 of them literally came down to the last minute of the game.

The Chargers next 3 games are: at Oakland, home against Denver and then home vs. Arizona. They will win their next 3 as well, go to 9-2, and everyone will keep sucking them off. The media crush will be unbearable.

And then reality sets in: They finish up with at Pitt, Cincy, at KC, Baltimore, and at Denver. They will crash down the stretch and people will forget that they were even competing with the Chiefs for the AFC West once upon a time.

The game at KC will be the final nail in their fraudulent season.

TN and Seattle are pretty good teams, especially considering it was Seattle on the road. They'll absolutely give us a game, especially if they're still in playoff contention.

I !@#$ing hate that Vrabel couldn't come up with a less dipshitty playcall on that 2-point conversion attempt. The Titans really should've won that game.

Meh.

They're .500 ballclubs. Seattle is 1-2 at home. And the Titans have allowed more points than they have scored. Seattle might give us a game, but it is still a game we should win comfortably.

And, yes, Vrabel (or whoever's play call it was) was fucking stupid.

In the modern NFL, that's okay. The defense has grown into the ranks of firmly mediocre at this point. It's a far cry from days of yore when we could win games with that unit, but it is what it is.

I just think we need to recalibrate our understanding of what constitutes mediocre these days. Once we do that, we'll realize that mediocre is pretty much exactly what this defense is.
The only metric I care about is how we do against QBs like Big Rape and Brady - because that's who we'll face in the playoffs.

Right now I'd be surprised if we force more than 1 punt out of Brady and maybe a couple out of Rape. Of course there's also a pretty good chance we don't punt either.

There's one wild card up for grabs in the NFC (Panthers/Saints have the other one locked up) and Seattle will probably be in the mix because of how mediocre the rest of the NFC is. But they could also lose their next 3 games (Rams, Packers, Panthers, 2 of them on the road) and be done. Seahawks could easily be 7-7 or 6-8 heading into our matchup with them.
