After Mahomie retires this fan base will have IMPOSSIBLY high standards for QB play. I weep for our next QB.
i never made a point to mention here, but there was always in my opinion, something about the previous qb's release of the ball...
it always had a downward trajectory, never horizontal and above. maybe others have mentioned this, but i never liked it. it reminded me too much of every screen pass ever from a chiefs qb was always thrown at the backs ankles, not his chest.

Alex liked to throw low and not high. Part of his 'protect the football' mentality.
However the thing about mahomes is that he FINDS openings to throw the ball. He can throw from different angles. Rich Gannon was GREAT at this. It was one of the little things he did that helped him succeed with his less than impressive talent.
Alex could only really do one thing when plays got sloppy... run. That's it. [Reply]

I don't know what else to say.
I thought he would be awesome. I mean Andy Reid would giggle like a school girl when asked about him. He could not hold his poker face. I KNEW then. Andy is a SANDBAGGER. He doesn't gush like that and set high expectations. He's been around way too long.
I never expected this. I expected greatness. I expected 35 TD's, 10-15 INT's, and 4500 yards, and a 12-4 record. I took this offensive talent into account.
People thought THAT was crazy... and they were right. For the wrong reasons.
I totally underestimated him. 45+ TD's, 10 picks, 5000 yards ,and a 14-2 record looks incredibly plausible at this point. [Reply]

We're going to have nowhere to go but down, is the only thing
When we're 11-5 next year and he only throws 40 TDs and 4500 yards we're going to be some spoiled ass bitches whining.
Unless, you know, he just does the same shit again and then we're going to turn into the Patriots. :-) [Reply]

It's true. He's not going to throw 40 TD's every damn year. This might be the best offensive cast he ever plays with... well, I mean after next year. Since they'll probably all be back. He might be even more ridiculous next year.
It's not about the stats though. You see it. I see it. SPECIAL. We will start taking it for granted though. It's just human nature. [Reply]
It's just that we've never had a QB who HAD stats.
It's like when you get your first girlfriend with a great rack and you're all excited about those titties. You enjoy those titties for awhile but you know what you really want...
So we're going to enjoy those stats for awhile but what we really want is tight, juicy, warm, dripping playoff wins. [Reply]
i predict pat will be the first person in nfl history to have a salary tied to a percentage of the salary cap.
IMO, there is not another qb other than maybe wilson, newton, watson, wentz. mayyyyyyyyyyyyybe goff or jimmy g. that would have a shot, only cause their contracts could be due before pat's. BUT......... no one, as of now, is truly 'worthy' of that type of contract but pat based on projections.
rodgers fucked himself. he should have demanded it. :-) [Reply]

Can I request a gif I don't think you've posted?
1st and 10. 2nd quarter 6:29
Mahomes under center, drops, play action, PERFECT ****ing footwork and the way he drives into the throw slightly warps space time before Watkins catches it. I mean drop, 1, hitch, 2, gather, 3rd read and laser beam. Awesome. Bill Walsh's coffin has a hole in the lower half.
I just like it because it's everything he didn't really do in college. Plus the delivery.
Good heavens, I feel like a 40 year old virgin. [Reply]

It's just that these numbers are what happens when a great offensive cast is combined with a great QB. We know what happens when an average QB is combined with a great offensive cast. The 2017 Chiefs.
You know who doesn't care about stats? Mahomes. I just listened to his interview on Eisen's podcast and when asked about stats if he was eyeballing the passing TD record, he didn't give a fuck. He's all about winning. Then he talked about how Tech lost all their big games, and how he thought the talent around him was good enough to win (bullshit, but respect).

Though I guess it was his drop that really impressed with. Excellent footwork. Good protection. You can really see him go through his reads in time with his feet. Montanaesque. Like he was dancing. The delivery is still awesome.

Actually, his numbers might go down anyway as a side effect of an improving defense. [Reply]

Mahomes isn't leaving plays on the field out of courtesy. There's a lot of reasons his numbers will go down. It's mostly because it's so absurd right now it's just really unlikely to keep getting better.
HOWEVER, this isn't a guy who's going to suddenly become a 3500 yard 22 TD QB. Not in today's NFL. [Reply]
