The way I remember the deferment to Elway and TD was that the paperwork went through the league office, they didn't hide what they did, took the league a while to figure out it wasn't what was intended in the rules. Broncos got penalized. Big Deal.

Maybe it was a bad move but a team needs to do it or it sends a bad message to other players. Kind of like what Houston did with JJ Watt...

Fact is, the Broncos did cheat. Al Davis called them out on it and he was right. The Cheating Donx got fined - TWICE. Pretty cut and dry. Denver fans are the only ones that cloud the issue - much the same way that New England fans do every time they get caught cheating. :-)
