These boots should come with a timber claim and an axe. Sadly, I have no business owning a pair of these boots. As soon as I unboxed them, I realized that my life was a wasted opportunity, and I lacked the construction background, or ranch, or metal shop, or other manly profession to be worthy of these workhorses. These boots are for every guy in every truck commercial. But they are comfortable, stylish, and tough as nails. If you can pull it off, these are some amazing pieces of craftsmanship.

I might be able to pull off those Merrell's.
IMHO the Merrell's look a lot more lumberjack than Red Wings and Wolverines.

I just pulled the trigger on a pair of Wolverine 1000 Mile. $400 is a tough pill to swallow but they have a classic look and will last.

Those Merrell's would definitely pair better with my look. Those Red Wings are pro shit, I wouldn't do those boots any justice. I'll likely pass on both though as I'm not trying to pose, like having a truck you never take off road.

I don't know about Ugg's but I like the look of the Hannen's.

I was going to say the same thing. The Redwing Heritage line (including Iron Rangers and Blacksmiths) can all double as "dress" boots for the most part. Now Redwing workboots definitely have more of a lumberjack look to them. My Merrell Wilderness have a much more pronounced and clunky profile than the Iron Rangers. I love them, but they're pretty serious hiking/mountaineering boots, and I can see a lot of people being turned off by the overstated profile.

I'll be curious to hear how you like your 1000 Miles. By all accounts, it's a great boot.

I love my Iron Rangers.

Here's a nice comparison of the look of Merrell's vs. Iron Rangers.

The Rag & Bone Officer boot is also a good looking boot, but I think it's more of a "fashion" boot than utilitarian. One of my friends has a pair, and they look great. I don't think they'll last like my Iron Rangers, though.

This. And when you gentlemen start doing it two years from now, remember not to do it unless you're rocking selvedge. :-)

I'm seeing more and more high school and college kids rocking sloppy cuffs with non-selvedge denim, and it's not a good look.

Yup. That whole scene/look has really taken off and been mislabeled as "hipster." It's been around for a long time, though the look and ethos is definitely more popular than it was in the past with sites like The Art of Manliness sort of spreading the look and ideas beyond the rockabilly scene.
