Even this year.
"Our QBs stink. John Elway should trade for Andrew Luck. Or draft the top QB in the draft even though my team probably won't land a top 5 pick among all the other QB needy teams! MINIMUM I'll accept is Kirk Cousins! Everything else is unacceptable!!"
No, Denver. That's not how it fucking works. Your team can finish 4-12, get the #5 pick, and wind up in a draft where Matt Ryan goes #5 and the next best option is Joe Flacco, who at the time is thought of by draft prognosticators as a 2nd round QB.
Next year if you go 2-14, you'll only be able to secure the #3 overall pick because it was a year that saw a fucking team go 0-16. And there's only one good QB at the top in that draft, too.
Next year another 4-12 year? Nope. Sam Bradford's the best option you got, and he's going #1 overall.
THAT'S how the NFL works. You have zero fucking power to control it.

Yep, the ol' pick pass oasis hath dried up. You need premium receivers and a QB with lightning-fast release to make that happen, none of which currently practice at Dung Valley.
Well, they DO have that one asshole who should be bludgeoned every time a Donkey posts his initials on this board, so there's that.
But nothing else.

What the fuck are you guys going to do if it does get bad, MHM? The owners are going to step in? Fire a head coach or two? Fire a GM? Shake up the structure of the organization?
Don't you think the Raiders from 2003-2014 already fucking tried that? How many times has that been done in Buffalo? No, you're not Cleveland, but don't you think they've tried JUST ABOUT every personnel strategy that possibly exists?
Here's what you fucks don't realize. When things get bad, there's nothing YOU can do. You have to hope your owners make good decisions, and that those good decisions involve good GMs, HCs, and maybe even a little bit of luck. You have no power to control that, and most of the time the owners don't either.
It takes one bad year, and then you're at a "critical phase." You suck THAT next year, and pretty soon free agents start avoiding your dumpster fire team. Older, more productive veterans start saying, "Ehhh fuck it." Young promising rookies that just needed some development time are thrown out and given too many responsibilities too soon, and whereas on a successful team they'd turn into contributors, here they're now looked at as problems that need to be replaced. The cycle starts all over again after that.
You're going through a bad spot right now. All it takes is one more year of shitty football for your team to go into "We fucking suck" mode for multiple seasons. And when it does, it will drive you fucking nuts, and you'll say fucking retarded shit like, "The owners should do something about this!" Yeah, they should. Yeah, they probably will. But it's no goddamn guarantee it will work. Being a football fan isn't a fucking video game. You don't get regenerating health in the NFL. You don't get save states in difficult parts.
Yeah, you THINK you understand the process. You THINK you understand that's how it works. But you don't. You clearly don't. It can and it WILL happen to you, and when it does, don't expect sympathy from me for you arrogant and naive sons of bitches. I'm going to mock you for your shortsightedness and helplessness in the face of misery. It's going to be the most beautiful schadenfreude the world has ever seen.
Get ready, Donk fans. End times are coming. Reality's opening the door to your house, and it's going to rape you and your family hard. It's going in dry. You're going to huddle up with your other idiot Donk fans in the corner of a cold shower for a long fucking time.
You need to get down to the hardware store; you're running out of nails.
:-)
