Eh, there's a defender coming into view right at the end, and I'm pretty sure there was another one in decent position to make the play. And we're talking about Harris here. I think it goes 5-7 yards.
But still, Mahomes just getting it there with a guy in his face is incredible. [Reply]

He's gotta throw it quick and if it's not there just sail it over everyone and let Butker kick it. However, like you said, he's a playmaker. I just don't think that's in his DNA, but he's gonna have to do it because in January in Foxboro (lets face it, were gonna have to end up going there) that could be the difference in a 42 yarder and a 53 yarder.
Yeah, it was clearly a FG range play.
The problem was that it was a bad time to have him rolling left. You're up 16 and I don't have a problem with a cautious play but for the love of god, don't do ANYTHING that might expose the guy to a bigger hit. When a QB is rolling left he'll have to do that hop/turn thing to get his shoulders around and throw it away. You could see him processing how he was going to get that ball out of bounds and quickly realizing that he was going to get blown apart if he tried.
My problem isn't that the play failed, it's that the upside on the play was nominal to begin with and it was dangerous to the long-term well being of our quarterback. If you're going to run a play with that degree of difficulty that also exposes your QB to an increased risk of being hit, don't do it there. [Reply]
I mentioned that play in the other Mahomes thread and blamed Hunt for it (until I was corrected). Yeah, this was probably my favorite play of the whole game and it was when I knew for certain that Cleveland was good and fucked.
Seriously - who the hell does that? That was friggen amazing.

But I'm not worried because I'm sure he'll learn from it.
Yeah, we seem to struggle a bit with cover zero, which is hilarious because we've got like three guys who you could just lob up a prayer to and they'd either outrun or outjump everyone to snag it..

It needs to be cleaned up, for sure.
Yup.
Belichick ran more cover 0 against the chiefs in 1 game than he did probably all of last season.
And here's the All 22 shot of that point guard bullshit. FUCK!
On back-to-back-to-back plays, Mahomes:
1) Performed a fake out that would shame Magic. 2) Threw the ball accurately 15 yards while falling down. 3) Fit the ball into a window so small I'm not sure it technically exists.
