Heard several gobblers and several shots..lol. Only action I had was watching 2 hens kick the crap out of my decoy. They ended up punching a hole in it. Headed out this evening to help my buddy get his 80 year old FIL a bird. They got skunked this morning. Hope everyone else is having some good luck!

The past 3 mornings I have been up early, opened the window and hear Tom's gobbling their brains out. I ran home this afternoon and looked and there were 15-20 turkeys and 3 gobblers within shotgun range of my kids' play set.

My guess is when I hit the field to hunt, there won't be a turkey within a mile.

Buddy's FIL shot and missed yesterday evening and evidently I set up on the wrong side of the field. Tom came in and hung up out of range. He spitted and drummed for about 2 hours out of range before moving off behind the crest of the field. I continued to see the top of his fan and his head periscoping for another 45 minutes before he moved off. Had I set up on the other side he would have passed within 10 to 20 yards. At again tomorrow morning hopefully with better luck.

I'm starting to wonder if I even have any toms.

This mean old rip must not have liked my decoys.

Does anyone else shoot HOYT? and had a decent weekend out. Had a bachelor group of jakes walk up to my MAD shady baby decoy but the Tom's didn't even come over the hill to see the decoy... so going to try again on Wednesday.

I shot Hoyt for years and got along very well. There's a good chance I'll go back to them in the near future, too.

If posted already sorry, but this game was fun:

I got a 46 first try, I think I missed 50 times alone on that damn running deer...

Last day of the season, ran out around 1130 for a lunch hunt. Did some run and gun hearing nothing. I get to the corner of the farm and hit the box call. A gobble from the neighbors crop field 300 yards away responds. Set up half way up a field Ina wooded fence row with a single decoy. A hen responds and within 10 minutes a raspy bitch comes through the fence 7 yards in front of me and steps to the decoy. The hen sees a cat entering the field and leaves.

Some aggressive calling and 2 gobblers blow up and are obviously coming in hot. 15 minutes of excited hen banter. Behind me I hear 2 gobblers sound off at 10-15 yards. I see them enter the edge of the field, and immediately swell into full strut. The hang up in the tree line, but unfortunately for Tom, he has stopped at 17 yards in front of the business end of a browsing 10 gauge. An explosion of sound breaks the afternoon breeze and old Tom falls over.

22.8lbs. 11" beard and 1 1/8" Spurs.

A great hunt that took less than an hour complete with all of the major components of a great hunt. I had hunted through rain, quiet birds and toms hanging up with hot hens at 150 yards, but am sure glad I decided for 1 last try.
