Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

The Game of Thrones stuff should be good. Ommegang is a great brewery. Three Philosophers is an all-time favorite.

Ya, I've tried the Lugene, Samuel Smith Chocolate Stout and the Young's Double Chocolate recently since Mingle in LS was doing a 3 for 18 special and I agree it's hard to beat the Sammie Smith. The Red Chair NWPA was also good from Deschutes.

Not sure if any are on Untappd or if there's a user names list in this thread.

Any decent Irish Ales to try since?

I just got back from Germany and had the most amazing beers.
It's amazing how much you can drink and not come away with any headache/hangover.

FYI...you may already know this, but I had the Youngs on tap at the saucer and really liked it (even though the ABV doesn't quite come up to my required potentcy). so I bought a bottle of it at the store and hated it. on tap it's great, but out of a bottle it's ass.

I'd take Lugene any day over Young's. Just a personal preference though.

so I've had a cold for like 2 weeks. stayed home all weekend and did nothing. but Sunday.....Sunday was the Indiana / Michigan game. I've been hoping it would be relevant all season, and it totally was. so I said the hell with it.....I'm drinking BEER.

for those not in the know this may not sound like a lot, but ABV can kick your teeth in.
three great, but dangerous beers.....

over the course of about 3 hours I had first a 24 oz Blvd Bourbon Barrel Quad (11.8%) I'd been saving for a special occasion. oddly enough I felt MUCH MUCH better after having that one so next I grabbed my last 12 oz Bourbon County Stout (15%). after that, now feeling very little, like a complete dumbass....I grabbed a 12 oz Bells Hopslam (10%).

yada yada yada....the next morning I had to rewatch the last 3 minutes of the game to make sure what I thought happened really happened. :-)

I started out my New Year's one year by downing a BBQ. I totally intended to share it, but no one had arrived that I wanted to share it with by the time I opened it. The night went downhill quickly after that.

No sir, it was uphill. You were just drunk.

In all seriousness, BBQ is some good stuff. My stash of it has dwindled to almost nothing; they need to release more.

yeah and they had NOTHING this year! I have a "box o beer" stashed on a back shelf in my garage with various things in there and I need to dig it out and see how many BBQ's I have left. I thinking 3 max.

DAMMIT!

my favorite beer of ALL TIME. I think I'd place Hopslam at #2 on my list.
so Sunday was epic.

It's going to get done again next year. It "wasn't ready" yet as of release time last year.

The Rye on Rye and Saison Brett releases last year have gotten me by.

Throw in BCBS, which is one of my favorite beers of all time, and you definitely hit some winners...

Wish I had some more BBQ. Was only able to snag a single bottle up here in MN, which I polished off last year. Are they brewing that again?

BBQ comes out again this fall after not being released in 2012.

Rye on Rye was bizarre this year. they started out limiting it and then gave up cause it wasn't selling. I bought like 6 bottles from one store. I too had missed the release and was looking around and found them. the guy said take as many as you want.

too bad I can't come across a stash of BBQ's like that!
