Signing Trey to big money seems dumber than the Jawaan Taylor signing.
I love the player and he’s a a guy to root for. But does not make sense to pay big $$$. [Reply]
as usual, knee-jerk hyperbole rules the day on CP!
Lookit-as Spags would say:
It would be bad form to say you weren't interested in re-signing any of your players. That would be kind of shitty. These guys played their hearts out for you.
Even IF they do re-set the OG market for Smith, you're out from under Taylor's deal in '26 if you wanna be. Thuney will be retiring soon, so you'll be out from that contract. This leaves Creed and Smith past, say, '26 or so. It's not some crushing cap weight.
Veach is going to say Smith, Bolton, Reid, Omenihu, etc, etc, etc are all 'priority' guys. And I'm sure he'd like to have them back. I'm also sure he's got a number that he won't go past in all of their cases.

Just relax, and wait and see.
I don't know why people don't trust Veach with the cap of all things. It's not a move we have to love, but the doom and gloom is ridiculous. [Reply]

It's FEBRUARY.
Just wait and see how it plays out.
I'll bet it plays out with an AFCCG appearance at minimum. [Reply]

What if Veach says 'fuck it' and goes all in on offense, signing Smith and Jackson, bringing back Hollywood, and drafting a speedy runner while rebuilding the defensive line in the draft?

I don't think it needs to.
Thuney and Taylor's deals are just about up. It would be no big deal to structure two deals around them. [Reply]

Would you really think that's a bad plan?
I would laugh my fucking ass off if they did that and MahomesMagic of all people bitches about it. [Reply]

Or have 20+ million annually to spend on something other than a slightly above average at best pass blocking G. This would be an egregiously stupid extension regardless of how it plays out with Thuney and Taylor. [Reply]
