More I think about it the less bothered I am. Would've been nice, but he's never been a better WR than Hopkins and I don't think he is even now in Nuk's twilight years. We could have done certain things with him that would've been fun, but we can do other things with Hopkins, not least free Kelce far more, imo.
Johnson is probably more versatile but I'm not convinced he works for Baltimore like he would for us. Not convinced Hopkins doesn't end up being the better option [Reply]
Here's what I've chosen to believe: Diontae Johnson is such a giant asshole that the Panthers were willing to pay him $3.6M to LEAVE while receiving virtually nothing in draft compensation. [Reply]

You will note, that there are no missed games for injury during the 2022 season, other than the final two for an MCL "flare up." And that he missed ZERO games in 2023.
We did this whole song and dance when the Chiefs were pursuing him as a FA, too.
The timing of his injury in 2021 - midseason - and the suspension the following season are the only significant time losses Hopkins has had.
He’s had one major injury that caused him to miss 1/2 a season. He sat out a couple games at the end of the following season after missing the start of that season due to suspension, because he was dinged, he was about to be a FA, and his QB was out, and the team was playing out the string of picking in the top 3.
He has always been a guy with minor ailments/dings going on, but he also has always been an incredibly high volume player taking lots of hits and running lots of routes, too.
He was 162/164 possible games played before his significant injury.
Since returning from the injury and the suspension, he is 33/35 … and probably would have played the two he missed had he not been playing for a dead-end team at that point. [Reply]

Yah. Apparently Dp9 didn't get the memo. And iirc, DHop has missed just 10% of all possible games he could've played in over his entire career.
Another factoid: of his 945 career catches, 70% have gone for either 1st downs or TDs. [Reply]
Anyone else think there’s something about Diontae Johnson? Think about this. Mike Tomlin handles the biggest assholes in the league and they can’t get rid of him faster.
Then it was “reported” that teams, yes plural, were involved but yet he goes to Baltimore for so little? Any team competing could have beaten that offer and given the Panthers more.
It sounds like he wasn’t that big of a commodity for some reason [Reply]
Well, as a general rule, I try pretty hard not to actually stand on my food.
However, I fancy myself an amateur connoisseur of the roast beef sammie. Probably my favorite incarnation would have to be the French dip or Italian beef. Any new place I hit, if they have either on the menu, I'm ordering it.
Though as a kid growing up in OK, my first introduction to the genre was the drip beef, which is similar to the Italian beef, just different seasonings and bun. Don't know if anyone here has ever heard of it, or eaten there, but my fav spot was Diamond Jack's in Tulsa off Harvard ave. and 43rd?
Place was decorated in ruby red . . . everything really. Chairs were upholstered in deep red velvet, carpets were ruby red shag, and I think there were ruby red wall curtains everywhere. I think I was told that the place was a whorehouse originally, lol.
Anyway, basically big piles of shaved or pulled roast beef that spent the day simmering in a rich beef broth all day stuffed into a poppy seed roll, then dipped in the broth, rolled up in a foil pouch. Came with homemade chips, iirc.

Last season was the first time since the 2020 season that he played in more than 10 games.
You realize 6 of those 8 games missed in 2022 were for a suspension, yeah? [Reply]

I think it was better for us to get Hopkins than Johnson, at least for this year and maybe for the next couple years.
I was initially worried about the ravens adding yet another weapon, but I don’t really think WR was an area they needed to improve in. Flowers Is undeniably good, at least in my view. Bateman has previously been good, although seems to be having problems, and playing below his potential. Agholor is a pretty good WR three. So I think the ravens get credit for stepping up to the plate and signing him, and especially getting him for nothing, but I’m not sure it will help them that much. But Lamar sure has lots of weapons this year.
I can’t understand why the P Panthers gave him away for so little.
Like I have said another post I think our priority is not WR, but LT and CB. Hope we get something done there. [Reply]
