I hear that but CLE isn't as shitty as record says. They suffered an awful fate as a team having to play with Watson until he took them to what, 1-6 or something?
With Winston all year, they're probably a 5-8 to 7-6 team by now. [Reply]
They’ve been a solid first half team, elite 4th quarter team and horrific in the 3rd quarter.
Not sure what’s happening but they need to fix that
Same thing that's been happening for years. When this team is ahead, they relax on both sides of the ball and don't play with urgency. When they're behind, they become a force offensively and march down the field and score a TD.
It's been that way for years. Not just this season or the last few weeks. People are complaining about blowouts this year but we haven't had many under Reid/Mahomes. All they do is win games. Mostly close games. This season has been a more extreme example I admit, because they've been cutting it too close on many of these. But the pattern is similar as other years. It's just getting more attention now than before. [Reply]

Good take. And.... people are looking for ways to denigrate and tear the Chiefs down this year more than ever.
It's no different than when New England in their prime would have one bad game and some people would pronounce them D.O.A. for the playoffs, in which case it was only true in 2019 when the dam finally broke on Brady/Belichick.
I remember thinking after the Miami Miracle in 2018, plus losing another game to Pittsburgh the following week, that they weren't a Super Bowl caliber team. But that was just wishful thinking because I wanted the Chiefs to win and was tired of NE. Then the playoffs began and they were like a different football team again.
The same is repeating now with Kansas City where haters are going to find any little reason they can to believe they aren't going to win it all again. Year after year. Some years they'll be happy, some years they won't. Either way, they got a shot every year as long as Pat is here and it doesn't really matter how the games look until the playoffs start. [Reply]

Chiefs had plenty of games where they won by multiple scores every year until this year. [Reply]

Watson can’t be out of the league soon enough, fuck that guy.
I like the Browns next year with Famous Jameis at their QB. [Reply]

Probably so but not as many as you'd expect from a team that has an incredible win percentage since Mahomes became starter. They like to play with their food so to speak.
When I have time, I'll review a log of their games going back to 2018 to see how many were close throughout. The defense by itself kept many opponents in the game in Mahomes' early years.
2020 stands out because they were 14-2 and it felt like every game was close that year. [Reply]

Hell, I just remember the beginning of 2018. Mahomes had 10 TD and zero turnovers in the first 2 games. Both of those games were much closer in 4th quarter than they should have been. For the most part the games have been pretty damn close the last 6 years. Cardiac Chiefs. [Reply]

Jameis is a black Ryan Fitzpatrick with more athleticism. Just like Fitzpatrick, he’s a hot/cold QB. When he’s on he is lethal. When he’s off, he’s really off. It’s so unpredictable as to which one you are gonna get week in and week out. Not sure if the Browns should commit to him long term. [Reply]
