Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

Got my Hopslam at Gomer's South. They got 34 cases and said it won't last the day.

Greatest beer. Ever.

That's pushing it just a bit. It's good, but greatest ever? Meh. I like Heady Topper and Pliny better (for IIPAs or DIPAs that is).

If you pay 20 bucks for a sixer, of course you are going to say it's the best beer ever.

I paid less than that. And it's still not the greatest beer ever. Some of my absolute favorites are pretty reasonable actually.

Sure, as far as Imperial or Double IPAs go, Heady Topper is probably my #1 favorite. It costs $12 for a 4 pack of 16 oz cans. Crazy cheap per ounce for a beer of that quality AND reputation.

You just need someone in Vermont to get it for you.

I would say my favorite is Modus Hoperandi.

Modus Hoperandi is definitely some decent stuff. I love Ska's beers for the golf course, great stuff in cans.

I also like Firestone Walker's Double Jack. It ranks right up there with Hopslam, and is around $10 per 4 pack. Not a LOT cheaper than Hopslam, but still cheaper.

Where did you find it? Are you bringing one to share at the Ice Bowl? :-)

I found it at Hy-Vee here in Lee's Summit. I think there is still some around to be found, especially with the HopSlam rush today. Noone really cares about the Lagunitas, at least for a day or two.

I'm sure Reaper would have horrible things to say about it since he's a saison expert...

But I'll be damned if I don't like Shiner's FM966 Farmhouse Ale. It's not complex or anything, but it's a very drinkable, affordable representative of the style.

Founders Imperial Stout coming up. Better than their Breakfast Stout, IMO.

If it tastes good, drink it.

West Coast IPA by Green Flash Brewing Co. is a new staple of mine. For an every day drinker Marshalls Atlas is hard to beat.
