I took the time to travel to Carlsbad, NM with my boys and their scout troop... 10 mile hike up the Guadalupe Mountain, Sand Dunes, Caverns... 20 hours driving and tent camping. I'm freaking exhausted and haven't really caught up yet on the games this week outside of the W's/L's. [Reply]

Good for you MHM. I'm sure that your boys appreciate that. Sounds like a really good time. [Reply]

I continue to be impressed with youth... the hike started around 6k feet elevation and topped out just north of 9k. There were several 11/12 year old dudes that you would not expect to do much that finished the hike. The first 1.5/2 miles are a brutal with cutbacks and steep steps.
Those kids still had a ton of energy after it was over. Crazy.
I think most of the dads are thankful we don't do this more than twice a year.

That sounds like a hike that my girlfriend and I would love to do. But I don't think that our girls would survive. Neither of us have any boys. Our girls are 10, 12, and 14. We have taken them on hikes that aren't nearly as grueling as that hike and they usually are whining before we get done. [Reply]

This was one of the worst weekends of NFL football I can remember since 1980. Lots of bad tight games. Just a big Yawn.
You should be used to that after the slate of bad teams that the Donks have had on their schedule up until now and for the next 2 games. All a big yawn for now. But, it's fixing to get exciting after that when the collapse begins. [Reply]

:-) You wish!! I've seen this mirage before. The Donks fast start is due to playing out of shape teams in the thin pile high air and a bunch of teams with losing records. Paper tigers. That's what the Donks are. You'll see soon enough. Well, not soon enough for me since your next 2 opponents are a combined 1-9. But then, after the gravy part of the schedule is over, that 5-1 start will drop faster than a pass intended for Amari Cooper. [Reply]

Good for you. That sounds like it was fun. [Reply]

If you cant score on out of shape defenses in the 4th..while playing in the thin air...what happens when you get KC, Philly and NE in a row with crowd noise.
BTW...KC was up 2 scores on both Houston and Philly with almost no time left. They went into "meh..we have this won" mode. Both teams were forced to try onside kicks...and hail marys. [Reply]
