IT ****ING HAPPENED

OP UPDATE:

Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy!

Well, to his credit, they *are* facts. Not exactly sure why you would be upset about that.

I'll also give Pat a little rope there because that defense is just crazy from top to bottom. I was looking at it yesterday trying to determine where the weak link is.

Maybe Church? It's stacked.

So yeah, he struggled a bit.

these national 'experts' or talking heads don't watch the games. they just loot at the stat sheet.
I know this because of how they're being withe Pat's start to his career.

...and how they put Alex on a pedestal last year

more to the game than just a stat sheet.
Pat is arguably the best QB in the league right now. Pre-snap adjustments/audibles/protection, improvisation post snap when the play breaks down, ability to escape, every route/throw in the play book is on the table; the entire field is an opportunity for him, pocket awareness, throws under pressure, throws from a clean pocket, throws on the run.

yet, morons like Patrick will simply look at some arbitrary stat and form some opinion without watchign the game. It's completely obvious that most of these national guys don't watch any of the games they are so proud to form an opinion upon.

His passer rating was 62 but his QBR was still 72 yesterday. Passer rating can be pretty misleading. Derek Carr passer rating was in the 90’s yesterday but QBR was rightfully in the 30’s. QBR in the 70’s is MVP quality. Wentz averaged 75 last year. I would say 72 QBR against one of the best defenses in the league is pretty solid stuff.

He's a glass half empty dolt. And when something terrible happens in his life, I can assure you I'll point-out the facts.

Struggled? Coming into today the Jags had only allowed one 300 yard passer in their last 20 games.

Mahomes threw for 313 and rushed for a touchdown and led the offense to 23 points (a season high for the Jags defense). Hardly struggling.

Right now, Mahomes' most important stat is that the Chiefs are 5-0. No other NFL team can say that.

I wrote a week or so ago about the intangible factors that a player like Mahomes brings to a team--namely being that unmistakable knowledge and aura that so long as he has a pulse, they can win the game no matter what the situation is.

Mahomes couldn't give a rat's rear end about his QBR. He was asked about his stats and rankings and passing yards constantly at Tech. His response was always the same, "Really? I don't keep up with those. I just want to win football games."

Yesterday he had a wet field and arguably the top defense to deal with along with the pressure of each week's exponentially increasing media hype placed on him.

What did he do?

He led the Chiefs to an unquestionable, inarguable, uncontestable victory.

That's the stat we've been yearning for.

He played ok. That's not a bad game, but for him it wasn't that good. Which is pretty god damn excited to have that type of QB now.

That was an Ok game for the Chiefs starting QB. Think about that. He's a first year starter still and made some gaffs. It happens.

But an OK game (IMO, maybe others feel different) he was 22-38 for 313 and two INT's, 2-4 on scoring TD"s in the redzone and missed a few shots.

That's not a good game by any means looking at the box score, but for a 1st year starter against that D, it was fucking fun to watch.

And the Chiefs let their foot off the gas to run clock in the 4th quarter. If the Jaguars had kept pace and it was 30-30 in the 4th quarter, I think the Chiefs would have scored more points.

Here is the QBR stat against Jags this year:

Eli Manning - 32.8
Tom Brady - 71.3
M. Mariota - 52.6
S. Darnold - 15.6
P. Mahomes - 72.7

What’s lost in the box score is he drove the ball all over the field against that defense. Multiple times they started deep in KC territory and marched right down the field.

Bortles QBR was 16.2 and you could argue he deserved lower than that. 4 of his turnovers caused a 28 point swing in favor of the Chiefs.

Yep. You can tell (like always) the Chiefs let their foot off the gas and became predictable after the big lead through Q3.

There were also 2 redzone passes dropped, one to Kelce and one to Hunt that were both TD's if they catch them.

Mahomes played well yesterday as far as I am concerned. Go ask those Jags defenders if he was good.
