Im fairly new to bow hunting also. Only killed 2 does. Grew up duck n pheasant hunting. Can't believe i never bow hunted. So much fun. Hoping the next 2 weeks are kind to me. Got acouple decent mid age 8s on my cameras, nothing massive, but if one walks up with 40 yards, ill probably get too excited to not shoot it [Reply]

Guys like Iowanian and I have been hunting for quite some time. (30 years here)
We're looking for that monster 7x7 or larger, (aka wall-hangers). I finally got my monster buck last year. He was a 13 pointer, 7x6 and weighed in at nearly 250. I've been sitting in trees for years waiting for a buck like that.
Edit: Do me a favor and don't turn into one of those douchebags that shoots from their car or doesn't give two shits about ethics.
Only pull the trigger if you're sure.
If you wound one, track it until you get it.
Ok... I'm off the soap box now.
Thank you!! I've actually done a lot of research into the hunt (ethics, fair chase, etc..). My favorite author is Steve Rinella, who offers really great insight.
I'm also going with a guy that's done it for over 20 years. Very very excited [Reply]

I'll get some posted up ASAP.
Ya, he showed up the first 1/2 hour of opening day. I couldn't believe it. 25+ years of sitting there, waiting for him to show up and there he was, ready for me before I downed my first cup of coffee.
All I could do to calm down and steady my shot when I saw those antlers. Lol [Reply]
Been shooting scoped guns for years. Today was my first experience taking the scope to the face. Windy as Hell and slipped when I pulled the trigger. A large gash to the forehead around 1030 AM and still randomly bleeds. Only saw one small buck all morning. [Reply]
Well no birds for me today all the corn was still in the field and the wind was unreal. On the plus side my 4 yr old untrained Brittany performed very well for his first hunt. [Reply]

Any of you ever bear hunt?
Oklahoma has some counties open for bear hunting. You have to be drawn out to do it though. It's on my bucket list. I can't speak for the rest of the world but bears are making a come back here. I'd also really like to wolf hunt one day. [Reply]
