Luckily he didn't.
As crazy as this has been, they still haven't hit a deep deep ball to Hill. The one last night was there but you've gotta throw it so early because of Hills speed, I don't think Pat quite has it yet.
On that one, he needs to load up and throw it as far as he can. As crazy as it sounds, when Hill is at top speed like that, I don't know that you can overthrow him.
Hill did drop a perfect throw on the 45ish yarder in the end zone. I think it's just a matter of time before the real deep balls start hitting. [Reply]

Either way they’re doing what they’re supposed to. Everybody is running in space. [Reply]

That deep ball to Hill that got picked was just really really strange. I'm not sure if he didn't see the safety ready to cut under the route or if he just underthrew it. My initial impression was the latter - I thought the ball came out of his hand a little funny and it just kinda died. It looked to me like if he'd have just launched that sucker out there and let Hill run under it, he had a shot. But the ball died on him.
I can't decide if it was a bad decision or a bad throw.
I don't think it was a bad decision at all. Hill had several steps and if Mahomes leads him by a yard or two- that is a touchdown.
It seemed the ball came out a little awkward from the start, so he did not get full power on his throw and then it died in the wind just like Buttkickers missed field goal. [Reply]

That was one of Mahomes best throws, just about perfect placement.
One thing that stuck out this game was where Mahomes was placing the ball, damn near right in numbers every time. I think he is getting very comfortable where his receivers like catching the ball. A couple to Kelce would have hit him right in the face mask if he didn't catch it- same with the TD to Harris. Such a perfectly thrown ball even Harris couldn't drop it.
Pretty impressive. He just keeps getting better every week. [Reply]

It was a good decision just a really bad underthrow. Commentators were talking about how the safety was covering someone else and the ball was so underthrow, he was the closest one to the ball.
But it was still the right decision. It's just one of those things where I don't think he's fully used to Hill's speed and is too cautious with the ball. Posted via Mobile Device [Reply]

Good decision, bad/unlucky throw. The ball came out of his hand a little funny, and the wind was affecting the football. Remember Butker's missed FG from 51? Yeah, the wind was somewhat of a factor, so its reasonable to conclude that it was just underthrown/wind affected underthrown.
I'll take my chances of having him take some shots deep, to keep the safeties honest, so the underneath stuff stays open. I'm not all too upset about that one anyways as Cincinnati went 3 and out on the following possession. [Reply]

Here's the thing though. He didn't lead Kelce on that throw. Had he did lead Kelce, then he most certainly would have gotten blown up. Pat threw it to Kelce's right shoulder pad. Notice how Kelce's momentum slowed down and stopped slightly prior to the catch and spun.
Also, the wicked hits at the same time when the ball arrives is a thing in the past now. Can't hit a defenseless receiver. [Reply]
