Nzoner's Game Room>Stadium Watch 2024 -Jackson County Residents: How Are You Voting?
Pablo 08:28 AM 03-28-2024
Vote in this poll if you actually live in Jackson county.

We've all shared our opinions in the other thread. But who gives a shit what somebody in Platte County or Johnson County or Phoenix or NYC thinks. We're all just noise.

Good Lord. Does Frank White hate KC or someone affiliated with the improvement of sports in KC?

Maybe he owns land at the Legends.

He has been nothing but a roadblock in this whole mess.

Is there such a thing as CTE for MLB players?

I just hope the mess does not cause the Chiefs to end up in Oklahoma City, Salt Lake City, Germany/Europe, or wherever. Never been to the KC metro, but the fans deserve to keep the team in the area. Hopefully they can figure out a solution in the next few years.

Hell fucking yes! Its not a dome. Its a stadium with a roof you can open. No more shitty weather games. Sign me up baby. And we can get Final Fours and other big events.

Mahomes does not have the body type to be playing football into his 40s. It's not gonna happen.

We'll see about that. It would not be the first time he has been underestimated.

KC Star article

Manny Abarca, the 1st District legislator, told The KC Star he plans to introduce two Chiefs-only ballot measures to the county legislature at a May 13th meeting. Abarca is targeting a November ballot for the measures:

• The first option is a 3/8th-cent sales tax, reserved fully for the Chiefs rather than split with the Royals, over a 40-year term.
• The second option is a 3/16th-cent sales tax over 30 years —similar terms to their share of the existing tax.

The first option — the 3/8th-cent sales tax — would open up avenues for the Chiefs to move ahead with their renovation plans of Arrowhead Stadium or possibly instead explore a new build inside the county, Abarca said.
That makes it sound like Legislator Abarca feels pretty confident that the Royals are leaving Jackson County.

Yeah there you go. I really do think both teams did a poor job with their messaging on this, but it's still a major hurdle to get Jackson County to work with the teams, and for the teams to want to work with Jackson County. I can really see both teams just trying to find a government who wants to take a more positive attitude and try and come up with a stadium plan together.

He was very clear that the initiative was lacking details. The owners call him a hindrance because he was asking for transparency. He removed the vote from the ballot before it was put back and eventually failed, he tried to stop this from happening like it did.

Just pay the extortionists whatever they want and hey, why don't you take a great piece of our city and put a shitty baseball team on it! We love you billionaires and we know you love us too if we just gave you more money!

Lol they aren't leaving. People are flipping out about the stadium potentially moving 20 miles west. And not like, LA miles. 20 minutes to drive 20 miles.

20 minutes, what do they think people will DRIVE THAT?

I laugh, as I get on the 405 for the next 55 minutes just to get home from work

edit: here's a map of the KC metro area. If you're wondering why people are mad I'll circle the real reason

Yea, I mean he can't play the game the way he is now in his forties. But I don't see why he can't transition to a different style.

Yeah that's pretty dramatic. It doesn't need to be either/or. It is in the best interest of Jackson County to keep the teams and public officials are elected to do what's in the best interest of the area they represent. And maybe that means letting the teams walk. But they are literally elected into leadership positions to problem solve and think creatively about things like this. That doesn't have to mean writing a blank check with tax money for Clark Hunt.
