Serious question: Is Kobe the most overrated player in NBA history? The most overrated athlete ever? Very good player (although not the best in his era and not even the best on several of his championship teams) but I honestly don’t know how he gets even thrown into this kind of discussion. Is it because he died young? He’s not even top 15 of all time and top 20 is pushing it too. [Reply]

He is overrated as hell and it is basically because he died fairly young. [Reply]

No ****ing way would his numbers be better. The players so much more physical. How old are you?
Far better. The level of athlete in the NBA 40 years ago is nothing compared to today. The difference is enormous over the course of LeBron’s entire career too. When he first started out in 2003, the game was basically played in slow motion compared to 2024. [Reply]
No, if anything, it's because he won a lot of championships.
Tim Duncan won the same amount of championships and was a better and more impactful player than Kobe, so why not him being mentioned in that company? Why is it only Kobe that is thrown into conversations he doesn’t deserve to be in? [Reply]

It makes no sense to me that Duncan isn’t mentioned in the same conversations. Maybe he wasn’t as dominant of a scorer. [Reply]

I can make arguments for either. I wish Stockton would have tried to take over more often. He lived and died with Malone. Malone struggled finishing games the two years they played the Bulls in the championship. [Reply]
If Jokic plays at/near this level for another 4-5 years, he’s gonna have an argument to be one of the top 5 players of all time. Not sure if anyone is ready for that conversation yet though. [Reply]
