Creating a new thread for soccer discussion since the Euro’s are done.
Most leagues are in preseason and Sporting KC are currently in a battle for the best record in the league to win the shield. We just sent Busio who’s a young Sporting youth academy player and possible future American star to Venezia to compete in the top division in Italy for a 6.5 million dollar transfer fee with up to $11 million with incentives and a 20% future sell-on rate if they sell him to another team. Not to mention another past youth academy player from Lee’s Summit and another possible World Cup starter Erik Palmer-Brown looks to be joining him at Venezia soon as well. If you’re looking for an Italian team to start rooting for with your new Paramount+ subscription they would be a good candidate with some local flavor.
The U.S has built a little power shift in the CONCACAF region with their wins over Mexico lately in Nations and Gold Cup finals and look to be in really good shape heading into the World Cup qualifiers next month.
Messi looks to be on the move as well. Let’s hope it’s not a worthless one to PSG for everyone’s sake.
Ok, CP feel free to remind me how gay soccer is now. Don’t care. Sporting is kicking ass and so is the USA. It’s a good time to be following along. Discuss…
Gio Reyna plays for 7 minutes for Dortmund and pulls up lame with a hamstring. That kid has been snake bitten this year. Hoping it is not something too serious. [Reply]

Time to shut him down for the season obviously. Hopefully it’s not anything that lingers into the end of summer and he can find some good form before the World Cup. He’s absolutely fun to watch when he’s healthy.
When was the last time the US played with a healthy McKennie, Reyna, and Pulisic? It feels like forever ago. Let’s hope the stars align for us this fall. [Reply]
Zack Steffen is having another embarrassing FA cup appearance. He has to get out of Man City. He is not a world class keeper and he’s wasting his youth by sitting on a bench. Time to move to a team that he can get some more playing time. He’s not seasoned enough to just come off the bench in huge games like this and be in top form. [Reply]
Sporting is in a bad way this year...worst start in over a deciade. Even had a promising first half against one of the better teams in the league but that LAFC second goal really did them in.
Good energy from Tzionis but Shelton was so damn bad. It was crazy.
League has changed. Finding gems in thrift stores and maximizing a roster that has gumption is not working in today's MLS.
They showed good intent by signing Pulido but that injury should not bring down our whole ship.
Lots to do to get back on track at being one of the best in the league.
This was a nice goal but the fact he was allowed to get it off at all was terrible.
Team completely sucks ass right now. Haven't scored more than 1 goal in a game this season. Too much playing it from the back and too much passing in the attack zone.
Russel looks slow and only got a goal because it went off a defender. Salloi is invisible on the field as well.
No speed and and no toughness. LAFC beat them on every 50-50 ball and knocked them off the ball at will. [Reply]

Sporting will not be good again until PV is gone and it will take several years after he leaves. [Reply]

Tuchel is going to be fired by the winter break if he keeps up his nonsense. Watching Jessie Marsch absolutely destroy and troll him in the process was so fun to watch.
Tuchel still hasn’t figured out a lineup that is good enough to compete. How long does this new ownership give him to try and figure this team out. They gave him pretty much a blank checkbook and he’s made the team obviously worse with the moves he made. Bringing in an aging Sterling and trying to have Aubameyang be a late transfer window savior is going to definitely cost him his job. Hopefully sooner rather than later so Pulisic can get some more playing time before the World Cup.
Edit: He was fired the next morning so the answer was “they’re not going to give him much longer” [Reply]
