Nzoner's Game Room>Is it too early to start thinking about 2024?
TLO 07:23 PM 12-10-2023
I don't want to give up on this current squad, but I think the evidence is clearly there that this isn't a Super Bowl caliber team.

There's plenty of reason for optimism heading into next season.

What kind of cap room are we working with?

What free agent WR's are likely to be available?

Talk about it here.

This feels like the type of season where we finally play a road playoff game, against a perceived lesser team, and lose. The offense isn’t good enough to overcome miscues like in years past, and the defense, despite being mostly good, can’t be expected to continuously stop the opposing team, especially when gifted a short field.

It’s been said all year that the offense would get better, the drops cleaned up, the penalties reduced, and the turnovers eliminated. But the fact remains that every one of those things continues to define the 2023 Chiefs week-to-week. With 4 regular season games remaining it seems like a huge stretch to believe it will change, especially given the personnel involved.

Tua with zero career playoff wins and who we were up on 21-0 on a neutral field? I'm sorry but you are being an absolute bitch.

Its never as bad as it seems and never as good as it seems. If Toney steps 1 foot back and our defense closes out that game with 1 minute left the perception of this team is completely different.

The AFC is wide open. Having to go on the road could very well be a good thing for this team.

Miami will beat us by 17 if we play them again.
And their defense is getting better as we approach the playoffs.

Miami ain't it for me. I'd have more faith in the Bengals if they got in than Miami. Those guys are still hungry as hell after the last few years and the team is a force even without Burrow.

I like the Bills talent too but they are so poorly coached (they had no business even being in a close game today the way they outplayed us and gave us multiple chances to come back to win) that I can't trust them.

Unfortunately, this team currently isn't winning 4 in a row against the top echelon teams.

Miami has much to prove.

They have two pretty good cracks at it before the playoffs.

I'd lean BAL but MIA has so much speed anything can happen.

I also know the Chiefs have zero chance to prove anything in the same time frame. They're expected to win all four games, and if they don't win all four easily, we'll all be feeling our sphincters tighten on that first third down in the wild card.

Keep trusting Tua and that Dolphins squad full of prima donnas. Andy Reid was coaching Favre in Green Bay while Mike McDaniel was in diapers. Ill take Reid/Mahomes over Tua/McDaniel with everything on the line EVERY.FUCKING.TIME!

We just lost to a guy who complains about his offensive linemen wearing tennis shoes in walk throughs.

And today guaranteed we won't be doing the walk of sadness through the Truman Sports Complex in 5 degree weather, which I've done three times now and it never gets easier.

We'll get a nice consolation WC prize, a little playoff experience for the rookies, and watch the Chiefs get eliminated in Baltimore or Miami in front of our TVs, warm in our robes, draft guide at the ready.

Good show, Chiefs. You played hard. You got as far as you deserved and didn't embarrass yourselves that much.

We'll more than likely still be able to laugh at Philly, Tyreek, Buffalo and/or Cincy.

It's better this way.
I think this is about right. By some miraculous stretch if this team were to win the AFC do you really think they wouldn’t get carved up by that 49ers team? It would be another 31-9 ass kicking. I’d rather lose a close game in the WC then get smoked in the SB again.

:-)

The 1 seed isn’t even out of play yet and you’re giving up on a team with Mahomes/Kelce/Reid and a top 5-10 defense. Pitiful.

You sure when Mahomes is throwing to Skyy Moore and Justin Watson and Tua is throwing to Cheetah and Waddle?

Having Mahomes is great but the QB does have to throw the ball to NFL players to be effective.

The Broncos are only one game back and the way we are playing right now they would beat us again I'm afraid. Hate saying that but.......:-)

You believe this, and it's sad.

Based on what the Bills did to us today, the Ravens would have a puncher's chance at shutting the Chiefs out.

The quick hitters to Rice are likely going to dry up in the postseason.

Teams are going to start camping that shit.

Travis ****ing Kelce in the playoffs chopped ****ing liver?? Yeah give me the three future HOFers in Reid/Mahomes/Kelce and a great young receiver in Rice over McDaniel/Tua/Hill and Waddle.

I'll take our defense over theirs as well.

Some of you need to grow a pair! I agree this Chiefs team is freaking struggling. No dominant team in the AFC thoough. Still a month until the playoffs start.

Yes, we know he has Kelce. The problem is that we don't have any help to take the pressure off. Any NFL team with only 1 matchup weapon is easy to stop.

Sorry, we will be entering the playoffs with one of the weakest offenses in the tournament.
