Nzoner's Game Room>Stadium Watch 2024 -Jackson County Residents: How Are You Voting?
Pablo 08:28 AM 03-28-2024
Vote in this poll if you actually live in Jackson county.

We've all shared our opinions in the other thread. But who gives a shit what somebody in Platte County or Johnson County or Phoenix or NYC thinks. We're all just noise.

Move the Royals to the riverfront as part of the riverfront revitalization.
Yep. I'll be the one to say it -

The city fucked up putting the Current's stadium where it did, because that's where the Royals' stadium should have gone. The Current could have fit in nicely where they proposed the new Royals stadium to be, right across the highway from P&L. It'd have been tight with the railroad tracks right there, but it could have worked. The lack of foresight regarding these two stadiums and what they could have been is staggering, really.

Should have just put it where Royals stadium is now. Haha

Might be the best thing for both franchises and the KC Metro region as a whole.
Chiefs got dragged into it by the Royals locking their brains on needing to be real estate developers around a new stadium to have a future.

Chiefs make a bigger profit as exclusive tenant with concert revenue rights at Arrowhead than they would make as owners of a new Stadium that they would own and have to service the debt with no public funding.

It is funny how cynical people think people are. Last year's Super Bowl rings did not have to be all about Arrowhead Stadium being the greatest place on Earth.

Somebody with the Royals ownership group needs to interrogate their belief that they have to make money in real estate around a new ballpark in order to survive.

The whole thing flopped because Royals fooled themselves into thinking their survival depended on emulating the Cardinals. That does not make sense and they never explained why they believed that.

Oh good grief. Maybe the City messed up by failing to name you king of the world monday morning QB.

KC Current was the only team looking into that location. Royals never said anything about locating there.

That would be super shitty to shit on the team taking the initiative, because of some imaginary best case dreamed up after the fact and not based on anything anyone is asking for.

Survival? Maybe not. But it's certainly been a national trend for baseball stadiums to try and create entertainment districts around them. With 81 home games per year, it's a lot easier to get businesses to invest around a stadium compared to 8-9 NFL games.

It's worked beautifully for the Rockies - so well, in fact, that the owner has very little incentive to invest in the team because so many people head down to the area just to have a good time, and the game is kind of secondary. :-)

I wonder if you’ll be allowed to even stand on defense at the new stadium if they build it in Johnson County.
This situation is 7+ years in the future. Mahomes will be 35+ years old by that point and I don’t think he will be anywhere near as good in freezing weather as he is right now or earlier years. And I would guess a 35-40 year old Mahomes would really appreciate a warmer stadium.

It was a really radical thought that nobody else in this city once considered, I bet. :-)

Good on the Current to be located where they are now, but like I said, this city has no foresight. And it hates change, as well, and that equals not having their baseball stadium in a premium location that was available for the taking for years on end.

They broke the Missouri record for spending in a special election.

Whether it as an afterthought or not, having the parking lots push up against the interstates is great. When venues are back from the interstates, you can lose a lot of time on the surface streets.

The one great thing about the Oakland complex where the Faid and the Warriors used to play was the parking lots dumping directly out to the interstate.

I agree, few would. All I said is there will be more people lost or diverted due to highway construction or wrecks that will go south on 635 then people who drive past Robandee searching for TSC. Absurd response to an absurd point.
