Nzoner's Game Room>50 Beers to Try Before You Die
NewChief 06:18 AM 04-24-2010
Thought the beer snobs here might like this article (and probably critique the hell out of it).

(CBS) You've heard of "100 Bottles of Beer on the Wall"?

How about 50 to try before you die?!
Spoiler!

For the IPA lovers: Double Jack IPA - by Firestone Brewing Company

It is ridiculously good.

Huge fan of Firestone DBA, awesome beer.

Anyone tried Red Hook? Hear Dan Patrick talking about it last week.

When it comes to a DIPA that is available year-round and that is available to me here locally, this is my favorite.

I have a few Red Hook Longhammers in my fridge currently. Solid IPA, not mind-blowing, but definitely good. Very much a typical west coast IPA.

Longhammer is OK. It's a decent gateway IPA, but there are far better IPAs around that are just as cheap.

No doubt when compared to a Green Flash West Coast IPA or a Founders Centennial, the Red Hook pales in comparison, but it's not bad. Hence my comment about it being solid, but not mind-blowing.

Longhammers are really sweet, not a lot of balance. To each his own though; I certainly wouldn't turn one down.

Marshalls Atlas ipa is my current favorite. Starts of like a lager and finishes with a well balanced ipa kick. Lake Jacamo from abita is also very good

Went to Omaha this weekend.... tried some Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout at Old Chicago and also found some at Hy-Vee... very smooth with a pretty unique flavor. Had the Black Diamond Cocoa Porter at Old Chicago, too... not as much chocolate as last year, but still pretty solid. Also found more Yeti Oaked Aged Stout and Bourbon County Stout. :-)

Is this beer heaven?

No, it's Nebraska.

Bought a sixer of the Empyrean Dark Side Vanilla Porter. Really wanted to get another bottle of Nebraska Brewing Hop God but couldn't justify the price.

I might try the Vanilla Porter this weekend. We also tried a Nebraska Brewing Black Betty... a stout aged in whiskey barrels. I'm not a big whiskey fan, but it was pretty smooth and doesn't hit you with whiskey like BBQ and BCS hits you with bourbon.
