10% are predicting a blowout victory (and 3 of the 14 are from people who 'predict' 69-0 every game)..... the horror. THE NARRATIVE.
Exactly. I linked to that poll earlier. Dude doesn't know how to navigate the board. [Reply]

It's just odd to me that we're supposed to pretend this is any different.
Can they lose? Of course. But they don't do it very often and any argument as to why they will is the same tired old argument they've bludgeoned to death year after year after year.
An interesting one MIGHT have been the Rams with a couple of tough WR matchups, a solid running game and a veteran QB who's won a title and has stepped his game up in the post-season. As well as a championship HC who has the offensive chops to hang with Reid.
At least THAT would've been something different.
But this? We've heard this shit. Over and over and over and over again.
"It's different this time..."
Yeah - we've heard that, too.
I just saw that Jalen Hurts had the highest completion rate (76%) against a Spags defense blitzing in that game since Spags came on in 2019. He played the game of his life and since then hasn’t come close to replicating it.
In fact the next time Spags played Hurts (last year) he struggled badly. Only had 7 pts until the end of the 3rd quarter and sacked him 5 times in the first half.
I just don’t see Hurts putting up a performance like that again or Spags defense giving up that much, Saquon Barkley be damned. [Reply]

Because that would surprise the hell out out of me and pretty much re-emphasizes that the key to beating the Eagles is just keeping him from busting big runs.
Or hell, only let him break ONE. If he gets a 60 yarder but is otherwise contained, we should have that offense on its heels.
Everything just seems so dependent on Barkley breaking big runs.
Yeah, i think we can live with Barkley only having one big rush. probably even two. He had two huge Td runs vs. WAS (iirc) in their last regular season matchup, and WAS still won, albeit Jalen got hurt and left the game in the 1st quarter. But after Saquon's 2nd big Td run, WAS managed to bottle him up (only had something like 40 yds in the 2nd half) and eke out a W.
But if he has 3+, i think we'll be in trouble. [Reply]

Arrogant – because the vast majority of fans here cannot conceive that the Chiefs could possibly lose.… And they post accordingly.
Fragile – the first time I brought up anything statistical that challenged their this will be a blowout narrative… I was viciously attacked.
If you think this board can’t conceive that the Chiefs could lose, I invite you to check out any Game Day Thread (GDT) from this season.
You’ll meet guys like 493rd and others who think this 15-1 (not counting meaningless Week 18) team going for a 3-peat was imploding like your Eagles did last year. [Reply]
The Chiefs CAN lose. Sure. It is possible. The Eagles are good and present some challenges.

I once asked a bartender if they made a good LIIT and he told me a couple of them would put me on my ass.... I innocently (maybe a little snarky) said 'cool, guess we'll see' and a few others at the bar overheard me and were like "OOOHHHH" like I was challenging the bartender to a duel or something. I mean.... LIITs have a massive spectrum from watered down shit to knock-you-on-your-ass and most of the time it's on the watered down shit end of the spectrum. It's a legit concern and question, and in no way should I just take their word for it and immediately buy a round for the entire bar.
That's kind of how I feel sometimes when everyone wants to crown some team in week 3 of the season or people sign up to thump their chest about their team here. Yeah, you could absolutely be the paper Lions or Commanders, or the Chiefs could completely shut down their offense for an entire half of the game and still beat your team as we saw in the AFCCG last season. Or your team could be the Eagles from two years ago. But, most of the time it's close to paper champs.
Us: Guess we'll see if they're any good, should be a good game. Going with the Chiefs until the other team proves otherwise.

The arrogance of rooting for a team that could be the first team ever to 3-peat. A team with a THREE YEAR playoff winning streak. A team with best playoff QB of all time.

Can you imagine what would happen if we had a dude reading a book on the sideline? [Reply]
