He was put on IR. If it's a sports hernia, entirely possible they felt 4-6 weeks of rest and he'd be able to play again. He gets off IR and it's still not where it needs to be, and rather than rushing him back, they give him more rest into the playoffs.
A lot of doctors think sports hernia surgeries are a complete waste of time and the actual heeling done through the surgery is just the forced rest that accompanies the recovery (versus the recommended rest if attempting a non-surgical recovery).
He reaggravated it in the Bengals game, and I'm sure he's willing to take the more drastic steps now to get back to 100% as he enters free agency. [Reply]
