I gave in and read the spoilers early this afternoon. About an hour ago, I did a Google search and found several valid corroborating articles but described these spoilers much more articulately than those bullet points.
That said, I'm actually happy that I read them and researched it because it will make Thursday night's viewing even more enjoyable.

1. I think it's fucking cool that Rian Johnson expanded Force abilities, even to the point where Leia could create a "Force Bubble" in order to survive in space.
The original trilogy made the Jedi seem like superheroes, with wild and wondrous abilities. The Prequels completely shut that notion down.
Instead of superheroes, they were bumbling idiots that could move apples and kind of sword fight. They couldn't sense that Palpatine was a Sith, couldn't discern that Anakin had a wife and children in the womb and didn't believe in the Sith. They were morons.
2. Who cares? Snoke was the McGuffin. The real story is that Kylo Ren "finishes" what his Grandfather (Anakin/Vader) started: He killed Snoke and assumed the mantle of the Supreme Leader.
That was Vader's intention and he wanted his son to be by his side. Now, his Grandson rules the Galaxy. Pretty fucking cool.
3. So, Luke "dies" during a Force projection that saves Rey while disappearing into The Force. There's no doubt that he has the knowledge to become a Force Ghost but maybe, just maybe, he knows how to turn back into corporeal flesh. That would be an exciting aspect for IX.
4. Yoda is in the film and continually trolls Luke. This should be fun!
5. Yeah, so Kylo tells Rey she's a "nobody". Does anyone take him at face value, especially since Abrams and even Daisy Ridley said that it's "obvious" who Rey's parents are/were?
I'm looking forward to this movie now more than ever. [Reply]

Really? I thought Rogue One was the best Star Wars movie that I've seen. And that goes back to the original, that I watched in a drive in as a kid. [Reply]

Really starting to understand why Mark Hamill has been so outspoken about not liking the way Luke was portrayed. I thought he was just salty he wasn't in the lead, but I think he's right.
Just saw it in Australia. Had lots to like mixed in with some bad. A good movie trying to be a bad movie. Mark Hamil put in a great performance, as did Adam Driver. But then i was someone who loved him in the the force awakens. Wish they werent so campy with the humour. [Reply]

The nature of continuing the OT kinda meant a lot of what they accomplished in ROTJ would be pointless. They have to create conflict which is hard to do without lessening certain characters or their conflict. It is a little sad to see Han revert to scoundrel and Luke as a beaten up old man, though. I almost wish they would've left the OT characters alone and gone far into the future/past.

How does Kylo come across in this? I'm a big fan of Driver but I thought Kylo was on the verge of being a bit too angsty in TFA. Does the character mature at all? [Reply]
