To reward the face of their franchise who has never once bemoaned his well under market contract. Like Mahomes, a rework of his contract was inevitable and best done now before top 5 QB salaries are in the 60-70M range. Most importantly, the extension provides a good chunk of cap savings this year. [Reply]

Because of recent contracts for inferior QB’s getting $55-60M per year while Allen was sitting at $43M per year on his old deal. Seems like he was generous to do this deal at $55M per year instead of demanding $65M per year. [Reply]
