Media Center>connecting tv to computer

The TV is a Hisense that we did have Directv, now cut, and using Roku.

My goal is to use the tv and an additional computer monitor. The computer and the tv are 20' apart. I tired using my wireless mouse from the bar 15' away and I was able to use the mouse.

Thus the end game, ? wire ? HDMI from the back of the computer to the back of the tv. Both spare HDMI ports.

Sit at my bar, and surf on my 52" screen...

At my office, I have 2 monitors, as I assume most of you do to.

Can a dumb tv be used as a monitor? Just by running a wire and configuring the computer as a ?mirror??

Thoughts?

Yup... I have a 65 inch 4K tv connected to my computer as a second monitor. That is where I play most of my media from. My other monitor is a wide screen curved monitor for gaming.

All you need is an HDMI cord and you can use it as a spare monitor. You will want to right click on the desktop and select "display settings".

From there you will be able to go to the "Multiple displays" option and extend, as opposed to duplicate, the display. Don't forget to set the monitors position and match the refresh rate of your TV under "advanced display settings" which is at the bottom of the image.

WOW, great news.

I was hoping it would be fairing easy.

The sucky part is I have to do some fishing to pull it from the computer.

As digit dumb as I am, kinda proud that I was "close"

Thanks!

A side note, do you use a wireless mouse and keyboard to interface with your computer? Yes I am assuming.

I do not because the way I'm set up I don't have to.

That said, I did buy one of these:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01E3B81HU...fed_asin_title

I use it with my laptop which I have connected to the TV in my bedroom so tthat I can control it from the bed. I'm very happy with it... especially for the price.

I actually use an app called Remote Mouse, which is available as a client on Apple and Android and server for Windows. I use my phone as mouse and keyboard on the mini PC I have connected to my TV.

Just make sure your computer has the correct outputs to connect the TV. You'll need an HDMI port on your computer to connect to. Or an HDMI to Displayport cable.

Someone show me how to extend my Samsung Fold phones screen to my laptop. All of the You Tube videos don't seem to work. Try to screen mirror or use Samsung Dex. No dice.
