Last night the Grammy Awards were on. I stopped watching award shows about 30 years ago for a variety of reason.
I saw some headlines this morning about the winners.
The Song of the Year is Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us"
This song is a piece of shit and how this garbage would be considered Song of the Year tells me that the music industry is another woke crap infested dump.

We used to play Chicago/EWF/ and all other kinds of music for pep and marching band. Horns make a song.
Today-it is just. thump thump boom boom thump. The music teachers in my school are having a hell of a time finding music the kids are interested in playing. Kids want something from today--well-it does not work well. The Admin told the teachers to make the class more 'sexy'. yes. You heard it.
Justin Timberlake does not turn into a good pep band song when a band is 12 players.
Todays corporate promoted music, because that is what the Grammys are, is pretty trash. Plenty of good stuff. You might have to spend some time to look for it but it is there. [Reply]
The fact is, much of new music, as has been mentioned, all sounds the same. I'm not being really wowed by vocals, and there is way too much emphasis on auto tune. The level of talent required also seems much lower. Long gone are the days of Michael Jackson (a freak, but a ****ing genius), Prince (see another freaky genius) and so many others. I'm an old school metal guy, and admittedly I don't listen really to any new music at all. Sometimes I'll hear something catchy though.

Bandcamp is full of great music from bands CNN isn't going to tell you about. [Reply]
