Nzoner's Game Room>Miami Dolphins Star Jonathan Martin Being Treated For PTSD

Miami Dolphins offensive tackle Jonathan Martin is being treated for post-traumatic stress disorder and depression amidst allegations that he was threatened, harassed and menaced by teammates, chiefly Richie Incognito, RadarOnline.com has exclusively learned.

Martin, 24, is not expected to report back to the team anytime soon, as he works with specialists in Los Angeles and awaits clearance to return.

We’re now learning exactly what he’s being treated for.

“It’s depression and PTSD… which is directly related to the bullying he endured by Richie and other teammates,” a source close to the situation told Radar.

“Jonathan wants to play football again, but he absolutely can’t play for the Miami Dolphins. That said, football isn’t the focus right now. It’s receiving treatment and moving forward.”

The insider said Martin “hates all of the publicity this has gotten,” but added that when the time is right, “Jonathan will speak out about what really happened” inside the Dolphins locker room.

As we previously reported, the Dolphins have suspended Incognito while an investigation takes place — a club suspension for conduct detrimental to the team has a maximum of four weeks, per the league’s collective bargaining agreement. Incognito could appeal as well.

Last weekend, 30-year-old Incognito sat down with Jay Glazer of FOX in an effort to explain vicious voicemails and text messages he’d left for Martin.

“This is not an issue about bullying. This is an issue about my and John’s relationship. I had Jonathan Martin’s back the absolute most,” he said, in the interview.

He also claimed that Martin once texted HIM that he was going to kill “my entire family.”

It was just the way they communicated, Incognito said.

Meanwhile, the NFL formally asked Dolphins owner, Steve Ross, and the team’s CEO, Tom Garfinkel, to postpone their meeting with Martin.

“Ted Wells and the National Football League have asked that we delay our meeting with Jonathan Martin until they have the opportunity to meet with him,” Garfinkel said in a statement earlier this week.

“Out of deference to the process, we will cooperate with their request. We look forward to meeting with Jonathan as soon as possible.”

Martin is expected to meet with the Ted Wells, the special investigator appointed by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell in the next few days, a source said.

“Jonathan’s lawyer, David Cornwell has been in constant contact with Ted. The NFL has been very supportive of Jonathan and respects that he is dealing with a very serious mental health conditions,” the source added.

Martin’s lawyer, David Cornwell, didn’t immediately respond to multiple requests for comment.

I want to see Chiefsshrink post a picture of his post-graduate degree in psychotherapy, because i'm guessing he's a church elder who calls himself a therapist while telling kids to pray the gay away.

Says the dumbass "shrink" who diagnosed Rashee as a "psychopath" (not a legitimate mental health term) and wanted him tossed from the team.

At a position that demands precision and teamwork in order to function effectively and perform at an elite level, we didn't succeed in the Super Bowl all because our guys up front weren't unhinged and out-of-their-minds angry.

Yep. The things you learn on CP.

Who called Jonathan Martin a "Star"? Even amidst this scandal he wasn't a star player or person. Incognito was twice the player on the field.

Putting him on a leadership council isn’t some validation of his character . It shows a total lack of institutional control which is obvious by how Philbin feebly botched the response. His main partner in crime was the same Pouncey who ran in tight circles with Aaron Hernandez. The same offensive linemen who voted on this kept an actual fine book where they fined rookies for breaking under gomer Pyle like harassment and then high fived each other when it worked. That’s deranged. Something clearly seen from the psychotic voicemails incognito sent. That’s not speculation, that’s fact. And the harassment extended to other rookies and trainers, not just Martin.

It’s the same incognito that was booted from two college teams. Who was arrested repeatedly for off the field assault, constantly fought with teammates, had an absurd history of dicking his team over with unnecessary penalties, was kicked out of St. Louis for skipping team activities because of drinking. The same guy whose opening act as a dolphin was getting charged with assault. That guy? Yeah no wonder the dolphins cleaned house from the top down. That is a sign of god awful management not a validation of him as a teammate. He may have protected a close inner circle, but he is not the god of the team who gets to make decisions on who belongs and who doesn’t.
I know Incognito isn't a good guy. Never said he was. Doesn't change the fact Martin is soft and probably should of done something else. False claiming that he got bullied as a 6'5 300lb grown man is embarrassing and shows he isn't all there mentally.

Once again football is not a good person contest. How many players on the Chiefs have done stupid shit in the past? Incognito clearly was an asset to the team at one time. You can downplay his getting voted to leadership council all you want but it does say something.

It isn't a false claim just because martin has moved on and doesn't want to revisit it. The belligerent voicemails are real. The log books the OL left bragging about breaking others is real. And its plenty reasonable to guess that it was a pattern given his track record of anger management counseling, complete lack of self control on the field, multiple incidents on and off the field going way too far confronting others... Including teammates. And martins later depression and substance abuse that he sought counselling seem to show that he did suffer emotional damage. Martin may have been too weak for the sport but there are a million warning signs that incognito was too mean for the sport. Martin didn't have the talent but incognito did and yet teams didn't keep him around.

If you walk out of Mean Girls thinking they were the heroes because they were popular you walked out with the wrong message. Ive seen hazing in my fraternity and teams. It takes a lunatic to not draw the line somewhere and to get a hard on when you successfully break someone. And that's the recurring theme you hear over and over about him. He's your best supporter if you're on his good side but if you weren't he was your worst nightmare. Even if it's your teammate, your trainer, your head coach. What kind of team elevates a guy with his long long track record of violating team rules and uncontrolled anger issues and elevates him to that position? The way he acted with that responsibility shows that it was more a dumb team making a dumb decision versus a validation of him as a teammate.

If you're good to most of your teammates but extremely abusive to a few you personally decided not to like, that makes you a shitty teammate. Berating others doesn't always make you a good coach or teammate.

At one point, many of our players who have a very different world view versus Harrison butker were pressured to scold him. You know what these assholes did? They supported him. Imagine that. You know what butker does with teammates who dont think or act like him? He invites them to dinner.

Meanwhile you have players like McNabb talking catty shit behind teammates like shawn Andrews' back and driving him to depression.

Yet another reason we are ridiculously blessed to have such incredible leaders on our team.
