They’re a fraud and will be exposed by the first good team they play.
Franchise QB doesn’t mean clutch. Phillip Rivers was a huge choker but was absolutely a franchise QB

You can only beat who you play. Their 3 losses were to the Chiefs (17-10), Steelers (20-10), and Cardinals (17-15). All three teams are leading their respective divisions. And this is an all-new coaching staff. New playbooks on offense and defense. Mostly new skill position players.

And would have blown a 21 point lead to the woeful Bengals if they had a kicker who could make a FG

Herbert is better than Jones

Daniel Jones and Daboll are both frauds

Guaranteed one of those two will happen.
That’s the hope but one of those outcomes isn’t guaranteed. Worst case scenario is it is within one game going into the Denver game and we have to play everyone.

I know but I’m wondering how far one can extend the definition of “franchise QB”

Does Trevor Lawrence count too

Lawrence is about as low as I’d go. I used to think he kinda sucked, but now I’m changing my mind. I kind of want to see him in a functional franchise. The Jaguars are a traveling circus at this point

No. He's a fraud and I'm guessing Jags already regret giving him that payday.

A franchise QB is no serious fan of the team is saying we would be better off going back to the draft and taking our chances.

The Chargers would NOT be better off going back to the draft.

The Jags, they may be getting there with Trevor Lawrence.

This is a pretty great definition.

Part of the problem is that even mediocre QBs are getting paid top dollar after their rookie contracts. If an average QB after his rookie contract was paid like that, things wouldn't look so silly.

That's a Darwin Award problem for NFL teams, though. It used to be that rookie QBs got gigantic contracts as if they were basically free agents. Now, teams have at least some body of NFL work to review before they offer the big contract.
