Nzoner's Game Room>8 AFC QBs, Blind stats vs each Division
kcgreene 12:15 PM 07-08-2024
Was looking through some statistics this weekend trying to settle a debate with a friend (who claimed that Chad Pennington was a better QB than Justin Herbert is) and ended up compiling a list of 8 current AFC QBs career statistics versus each AFC division.

I figured I'd post them here and put who each of them are in the spoilers if anyone is intrigued. Not gonna lie, It kind of tested a couple preconceived notions I had, but some of them are obvious as well ***cough** 'Mahomes' ***cough***.

Herbert is nowhere near a top level QB. Above average but not close to elite.

I call him Philip Rivers 2.0. He's good but not great or top level by any means, my dumbass of a friend thinks he isn't good at all. Like, he considers him a below average starter in the NFL, hence he believes Chad Pennington was a better QB. That's what led me down this path, and when I started, I just figured I'd check others and take a look at the data.

He's a FF performer and that's why he's popular. No more, no less. But with every new season....there is a chance...just a chance...that this might be his year. :-)

Not really. When healthy he's consistent and steady and pretty good, but never gives you that eye-popping 40-point game that the real FF studs can produce from time to time.

He'll contribute and be a good player on your team but will never carry your season the way Mahomes did for me in 2018 or the way Allen and Hurts have done recently with all their rushing scores.

I think he will be in tier 2 under Harbaugh.

Tier 3 under Allen, Lamar and that group, and I'm with ya. (So realistically, Tier 4, because Mahomes is by himself on Tier 1, and the gap between him and everyone else is so big that Tier 2 is empty)

he can make a pretty pass every once in a while but definitely seems overrated to me and his team always under-performs. I do find it entertaining when he comes up with a huge choke like when he threw that 99 yard pick 6 to Jaylen Watson.

I vote him easily the most overpaid QB in the NFL, he hasn't accomplished shit. At least Lawrence has won a playoff game before I guess.

Yeah, that one kinda shocked me too when I was putting it together.
