Because of all the interest in this thread, I've place all of the video content of Patrick Mahomes II's college career, and draft day goodness into a single post that can be found here. Enjoy! [Reply]
I understand the getting hit alot and awful LT play has worn on him, why wouldn't it. But this is just bad mechanics.
He's had that front foot coming open all season. So many of his misses just look like plays where he's letting his landing foot swing out too wide, it's throwing his shoulders open and the ball is just coming out wrong.
And contact or not, that specific flaw does NOTHING to keep him from getting hit. In fact, it GOT him hit on the very next play here because that play shouldn't have ever needed to be run.
It looks like a boxer (or hell, an offensive lineman) who's lets are tired. That's where you see that stuff show up the most - they just don't move their legs if they don't feel like they have to. Boxers start grabbing, OL start lunging. Here, the QB just didn't take a full set. [Reply]

He nonchalants throws all the time. It's a laziness issue. As great as he is he sometimes thinks he can just wish the ball into the receivers hand. [Reply]
I really wished we did more under center stuff. Would really help the run game and PA. Shotgun just seems like the ends know they just have to get to a spot. It also hurts that Pat tends to want to drift back instead of step up. [Reply]

He might not want to step up because there's been so much pressure up the middle the last few games. As bad as LT is, the IOL is too heralded to play like this, especially Trey. [Reply]

I think a part of that front foot coming open is him trying to peek to his left to see the pass rush. There's no way he's comfortable turning his back completely to that side. [Reply]

Run shotgun and this stuff from the 20 to the 20. Run almost all under center in the red zone. Football doesn't have to be complicated. [Reply]
